Aquaplaning resistance not as good as other high performance tires but if wet without puddles then still decent. I'm using them now on my Evo and honestly not as bad as I thought, maybe coz the tread still very thick and the car is AWD with good stability.
*
Car weight & tire profile (width) also plays a roles on how the tires performed in wet condition...
RE003... once you passed the 12-15k mark... the wet performance drops drastically (well, that is what I experience on my car)

Mine is 255 width now on an Evo 9, but I suppose not yet reach 12k km yet and treads still very thick (85-90%)
*
255 nice... thumbsup.gif
I reckon it wouldn't be too obvious on your EVO as its AWD plus with TCS (I assumed)...
I'm looking forward to try out the new Goodyear AS5 brows.gif

Don't have TCS, got SAYC and ACD.
I'm eager to try the F1SS but not sure how expensive it would be! Lol
*
Wow... F1SS. Don't you think that using that tire on the normal road is kinda waste/overkill? brows.gif

No la, it's same class as PS4S or CSC6, so still 100% street tires type.

*
PS4 by itself is already a very good tire for street.... PS4S is a minor step up from the regular PS4 (slightly softer compound hence better grip) tongue.gif
And we all know softer compound means wear out more faster as well brows.gif

so i'm not entirely sure whether is it worth the $$$$

Actually PS4S has the same compound and tread wear rating as PS4 at 320 but has different race inspired stiffer construction to make the handling even more aggressive and faster but at the expense of a bit more nervous in the wet.

F1SS is tested to be about as quick as the PS4S in the dry but yet as good as PS4 in the wet so like able to merge between those 2, which means it should be an incredible tire. The wear rating is still about the same as F1A5 if I remember correctly.

We'll see how expensive it will be and whether I will still be itchy after knowing the price! Lol

Hate you bro.... Now you got my attention on the F1SS tongue.gif

But after watching the view below.... Having mixed feeling about it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpZss_Y_JHc

Because how well a tire performed in the dry doesn't really concern me as I hardly push my car to the max (city driving... how hard can you push anyway?) so it doesn't makes much difference anyway. But when it comes to wet condition... that is where its matters.... the ability to control the car and stop the car in wet condition makes a huge difference between being in a accident and not being in one... wink.gif

Anyhow... if you do get it.... please share your input/experience about it tongue.gif
Any idea when will it be available in Malaysia's market?

Yes I've just tested it. surprised me too.  As opposed to AD08R where it become unpredictable in the wet after half worn
*
How fast were you driving and is there any standing water? Because the groove on these tire are not sufficient to channel water out....

Its a simple science... in the dry... the more rubber surface/contact you have on the road... you have better grip...

when it comes to in the wet.... its the opposite, the more rubber surface you have... the higher the chance you'll have aquaplane..... because there's no way to channel the water out

The ECS is almost like CSC6 but available in 18'. It is categorized in the same class as CSC6 and PS4S, performance wise just slightly below only for dry but wet is excellent if not better. I actually like this more than PS4 coz no chipping issue.
*
Wet is excellent? Odd... My friend used this tire previously before switching to PS4 on his scirocco told me that on the dry its on par with the PS4 but on the wet, PS4 is much better. Anyhow, different tires behave differently on different cars....

For me the ECS is excellent in both dry and wet for a street tire. I don't recall ever aquaplaning or sliding on it in the wet and my Mark X has no VSC/TRC. Even now with middle treads only left 20-30% and side treads almost all bald, I still dare to drive it relatively fast in the wet. In comparison tests, this tire is matched against PS4S, not PS4 anymore.
*
Interesting.... It would make sense since MarkX is quite a heavy car compared to my friend's scirocco because weight would make the tire more 'planted' to the ground/road. wink.gif

Well German cars usually are heavy too. My X120 is about 1.55 ton curb weight, how about the Rocco?
*
I think its should be around 1.2 ton (+/-) if i'm not mistaken...

Cannot be that light. That's Evo 5/6 or FD2R weight.

Just googled it... its between 1.3-1.4 ton depends on model...
