mod pls move to correct section if this is not

i remember coming across a word that describe a situation in a pleasant, less-blunt, softer to ear method

but i cant re-call it

for instance, instead of saying someone is crazy, some might opt for the word eccentric.

or instead of calling someone stupid, some might opt for the term slow

there is a word to describe usage of such language

i have googled and euphonious is not the correct one.

Anyone can help? Thank you in advance!

no no, i am not trying to say something unpleasant

what i meant was, the term or word used to describe a situation where instead of being blunt, you choose softer-sounding word so as not to be so hurtful

no. the intending is pure and truthful..not used to mock or insult or insinuate

but rather, for example, instead of saying that person died....say that person is no longer with us

act that uses soft, kinder words to describe a situation

My pleasure... Glad it was the correct one.

I had it on the tip of my tounge, edge of my brain... Had to shuffle some pages in my memory of lessons from school time... All i had to go on was something ending with -ism...
