My church is about to start a multicam projection for it's services soon, and we would like to record all the services to video.

I'm looking to purchase a MacPro machine and to run Final Cut Pro with it. The main requirement I need the machine to do is:

a) Record the video streams from the video mixer, & if possible all 4 channels of video stream (SD format)
b) The machine is able to playback a video (quicktime) back to the video mixer WHILE still recording the live video stream.
c) Failsafe machine. ie. If there is a blackout during the recording, my previous recording prior the blackout are still retrieveable.

My questions are:

1) Would the MacPro and Final Cut Pro able to do the job?
2) If yes, what kind of other hardware I need to purchase? Video Capture card? If no what are my alternatives?
3) Do you think an iMac would able to handle the job?
4) What are the extra cost I would be looking at for the added hardware.

Thanks for all the answers.

go for mac pro if your church got alot of money .

1) Would the MacPro and Final Cut Pro able to do the job?

Yerp. Enough said

2) If yes, what kind of other hardware I need to purchase? Video Capture card? If no what are my alternatives?

If you bought mac pro , there's no additional hardware/device needed

3) Do you think an iMac would able to handle the job?

Yerp, but not power as what mac pro has

4) What are the extra cost I would be looking at for the added hardware.
just use your digicam/videocam to record the scene . The rest , let Mac to do the job
