Hi guys,

Comparing sound performance of

Dali Oberon 5 vs Focal Chorus 716 or 726, which one is good for music and also home theater sound?

Price/performance can be considered though not a critical factor.

oberon use 2way crossover
716 use 2.5way
726 use 3way

i pick 726 becos it give the best separation among low-mid-high.

Nothing to adjust, did not adjust as it came installed to the speaker bottom, just place the plate that protect the floor

Did not really check the directional aspect, but should have it, need to toe in the speaker as advised by Wharfedale. Why not u go to local hi fi shop to audition one yourself ? biggrin.gif

Based on what they both says.

Oberon 5 on specs reach to a lower note if your source can provide them.

Focal 716/726 are known for their high register. Sometime some feel that it is too sharp (or fatigue) when wrongly match.

Ultimately i personally prefer the Oberon 5, as i think the Focal sounds too clinical. (not so free flowing).

Plus, the Oberon 5 dont need to toe in. That is a plus to me!

Thanks !

I ended up comparing Oberon 7 vs Wharfedale EVO 4.4. Opted for the later due to high ranking it received from some hifi sources.

But did get Dali Spektor 2 as my back surround setup.

I think those are mostly fills use only.

about 60-70% if main sound still comes for front 3 speakers- front left/right and centre.

Yes, Atmos ceiling speaker sounds are rare. Currently mainly using the 5.1.2 setup for music, hahaha !

Some movie channels have the Atmos ceiling effect sounds. Still struggling to really enjoy the ceiling speakers. Just let it be first.

Nice. Did you also get the centre speaker? It's really huge.

Did not get their centre speaker as it is relatively expensive. So got Elac centre speaker instead.
