I attend interviewed session at kpmg yesterday. Currently I am working at small and medium size firm as audit senior with 3 years experience and just finished my acca.
While during interview, the interviewer has mentioned that they would be unable to provide me the expected salary, which what i currently owned in my current firm. They also mentioned that have to start from audit associate. My current salary is about Rm4000
Now I am wondering if they offer the job for me, how much they would pay to me? I have prepared to start from audit associates. But what if they pay to low, shall i accept the job?

Getting Started

|
if new salary is low compared to your current salary, better don't accept. you will have more work to do in the big firm but they pay you less than what you currently get, what for? i remember a few years ago i heard a young auditor from the big 4 company died in an accident otw back home because he was too tired from overwork

Don't ever accept an offer lower than your current unless you are desperate or out of work. The interviewer was trying to short-change you in terms of salary and position. When you spend enough time working, the BIG FOUR or MNCs are just a name that means nothing, especially when you have got the skill-sets and experience that are in demand.
Put them in Glassdoor and they will be thinking twice before doing the same to others.
Consider yourself as a consultant selling services. Are you willing to accept lower offer price than you are selling?

TS, better wait if you're offered a role first, and then the salary package.
If much lower than what you're earning, then please consider.
If Audit Associate, which level, I or II? Unlikely they give you the lowest which is entry-level based on your years of experience.
Asides from that, if you continue to stay on with your current role, what are your promotion prospects?
