As per title, is it ok to pump normal gas into tyres that already has nitro in it?
Very inconvenient to go specific shops to pump nitro
Petrol stations only have regular gas

Please advice

no problem to pump, but you will waste the nitrogen effect.

nitrogen is more inert to heat / expension, thus gives your car tyre pressure more constant

Normal air should be good and practical .
At recommended tyre pressure or higher, the 'advantage' of nitrogen is academic and kind of shiok sendiri ,IMO.

Perfectly fine.

One does not really get or experience noticeable advantages of pure nitrogen gas under everyday driving.

The air we breathe is 78% nitrogen btw.

thanks for all the advice

after i changed tyres to michelin primacy 4, the SA told me he will fill in with nitro. Reason is: better performance, lighter, less burden on tyres, wont decompress so fast compared to air

anyway ill just pump back to air slowly, mix with nitro haha

FYI nitrogen fill up for tires is probably the biggest con in the tire business! All those benefits are practically bull crap! So just forget it and fill up with normal air.

If nitrogen is free - go for it

If need to pay - forget it, just pump using the normal air

I just want to clear the AIR about the misconception about using Nitrogen air on tires...

As some has pointed out... Normal air contains 78% of Nitrogen, while the remaining 22% is mixture of gas (21% Oxygen and the rest is CO2, Neon, Argon & etc)Nitrogen molecule is much larger than others air molecule hence its much harder for them to seep through the tiny pore of the tire membrane as well as the gab between the tire & the rim. So what does this mean? Those whom using Nitrogen gas are less likely to loose tire pressure over time (maybe 1-2 psi over 6 months period) compare to those on normal air... they will loose about 1-2 psi every 4-6 weeks. (This is a fact because I tried using Nitrogen for 2 years straight on my ride and that is my observation)

For those whom claims that it give you better performance and prolong your tire life.... I wont say anything to them except giving them the 'middle finger' tongue.gif
Racing team used PURE Nitrogen in their tire is not for performance gain... but its maintain their tire pressure through out the race. (Heat caused the normal air to expand hence PSI increased)

On normal road car.... you can hardly get your tires to reach those extreme tire temperature. Unless you're hardcore driver whom drive very fast on winding road and long distance. Event if you does, the tire pressure would only increased 2-3 psi (not high enough to jeopardize the tire life or car handling)

So the conclusion.... this is a sham? Yes & No... (Depends on how you look at it) because the ONLY benefits I see is that the tire pressure maintain much longer than normal air.

Would I recommend it? My answer is yes if you're the type of person whom is lazy/hardly check your tire pressure regularly. Else... stick with normal air as normal air is FREE!

If you does choose to go Nitrogen.... Make sure the tire shop fill & purge the nitrogen air several times in succession so that you get close as 92% or higher to be effective...
