I have just gotten a Spouse Visa for my wife for the first time(I’m a Malaysian). The immigration officer mentioned something about some officers will be visiting us at home unannounced to check if our marriage is legit or not. Is this true and if it is, what are they actually checking and what are they gonna ask. Also, what if during that time, the both of us are not at home when the officers arrive? Do we ‘fail’ to continue with the Visa?
Yes, actually procedure they can do that. Either immigration department or police department can visit for spot check. But usually they lazy to do that, but they will need a confirmation letter from Police department to clear it in order for immigration to proceed to next stage. That's mine experience.
