It was an easy decision for me even though I'm a very big Sony fan. Halo, Halo 2 and the upcoming Halo 3. It's amazing how certain games could influence the purchase of a console. I use to just play games on the PC. The PS3 is great, so is the XBOX 360. I'm not going down that route of which console sells better, better publicity, limited appeal, etc. The fact of the matter is, right now. XBOX 360 has more games. The original games are not crazily expensive and other than the hardware issues they face, it's a great console. Going live is another huge reason. Now, things may change later on. XBOX Live could become free, PS3's system could start charging, etc. You could wait months for PS3 to get their games in check, you could be happy watching movies with the Blu-Ray but that's not the reason I went down the XBOX route. It was for the games, plan and simple. . You never can tell. There will always be the PS and the XBOX fanboys. So decide what games you want to play, certain games are XBOX only, some are PS only. Decide your budget, and you'll be fine. |

Xbox 360 is my choice purely because of the game selection. Yes, the console is a risk. A huge risk with the 30% failure rate but still, the PS3 lacks alot of games and the only safe thing to do right now is to wait till the middle of next year for a stable Xbox 360 unit, or more games for the PS3 and many are not prepared to do so.
So Xbox 360 it is, if it fails many gamers will just send it in for repairs and wait for it to return. It's something we have to live with. Yes, some are willing to wait but most are not. And yes I have friends that have returned it anywhere from 2-10 times so far and they're still doing it. Some will give up, buy a PS3 or get a Wii in frustration. The rest will just hope that the newer units with the extra heatsinks, etc will actually do some good and last a while. Of course I'm not saying that I'd accept this for any other product, it is a severe embarrassment for them the way they have handled this. Their defective units, lack of QC, god knows what kind of engineers they've got working over there that they can miss something like this. 30% is almost an insane rate for failures and if it was anyone else, they would have been boycotted to the max and probably have gone bankrupt but this is Microsoft. Thing is, the games are the reason many people are tolerating this crap. This post has been edited by refnulf: Sep 5 2007, 10:36 AM |

Hell, try the IT places in Lowyat for that matter. Take something in for warranty claim and they'll give you the "you are a scumbag" look. Sometimes it's a real hassle to deal with em. That's why sometimes I just prefer to take it back to the distributor, or service center directly myself. |

QUOTE(AlamakLor @ Sep 5 2007, 01:44 PM) Yeah, apparently one of the press reports says that M$ was too busy doing damage control and didn't have time to rectify the problems. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if giving out additional 2 years warranty was a good idea. Perhaps it'd be better off that they just ignored the complaints and act like there's nothing wrong, but concentrate on rectifying the issues....then have customers buy those that are fixed....just like dell, denies all the complaints about the 2407's issues, and silently launch new revisions that fixes the problems. Hey, at least Dell got the latest 2407 working properly! Yep and anyone that had the earlier 2407s' got Dell to send em replacements after much complaining. |

That's right. Go get the PS3 just for the stupid blu-ray. Geez, get a freaking grip and think. Xbox 360 has the best games and the way Microsoft are operating it's going to have the best games around for a long long time. Right, PS3 might have one superb game release every 6 months. f*** that. I'd go with the 360. Once you get it, you won't regret it. Of course, try to get the newer manufactured ones. |

I'd buy all three if I could afford it, but I can't so I went for the console with the most FPS games (my favourite type of games). Wii looks like a lot of fun for the family. PS3, I just don't see the point at the moment with their limited library of games. Sure, perhaps they'll expand on that eventually. But the games I want are on the 360. Might be foolish to spend money on a console that isn't 100% stable yet, but Bioshock, Halo3, have made the difference. Use to own a PS2 before as well. Had a PSP for a minute or two before I got sick of the small display, lol. |
