Hello, i'm just putting this out to ask for opinions as I am puzzled to why HYPE's clothing prices is quite high, some even higher than Levi's and other known brands. I know for one their quality is really good, I bought 2 of their shirt before, I touch, and I wear, it's good quality. But then recently came the new arrival of fade to black seasonal clothing, and I saw one of their t-shirt, with reflective glow in the dark font / logo, is selling for RM 120 each. I asked the staff, how come this one expensive ? He replied, it's quality. So yeah, just wondering and wanna get some opinion in, as Im also thinking of actually buying that piece of RM 120 t-shirt.

I think the price is fair. But I don't like the unnecessary wordings and label. Nowadays the same kind of design, new streetwear labels are seen coming from HK and China.

If you have bought many types of t shirts, you should know how to judge quality by yourself and not by relying on sales person. If the cotton of the shirt is familiar like Hanes Beefy T type quality, then paying RM120 is justified. I used to have t shirts with scooby doo print and Coca Cola print on Hanes Beefy T before Both cost near RM100 and are imported. But nowdays if you want to buy such quality T shirts it would cost close to RM200.

If the perception of quality is on the prints, then its all up to how much you want it. Me? I would walk away. Nowdays if i am buying daily T-shirts, i would not spend more than RM25 each. And i don;t really care for the prints unless i wanna make a statement like having a RM400 DKNY Tshirt. Meh...

If you don't mind, can you kindly share with us on how to judge the quality of cotton T-shirts? Or what makes a good cotton T-shirt?

I myself nowadays just wear Uniqlo airism T-shirts because I couldn't stand the heat. It become hard for me to wear cotton t-shirt as I find them trapping more body heat compared to airism t-shirt.

I'm someone who buys I believe, quality t-shirt, and the feel is really different. This is just my own view of a quality cotton t-shirt, when you touch, it feels kind of thick and feel soft yet firm at the same time, and very smooth as you move your hands along the shirt

The problem is good quality thick ones are hard to come by in Malaysia. The ones that can take a beating are still skating T shirts. Anything fashion would not last. The genuine Supreme t shirt are actually skating t shirt. But because their branding into fashion statement made them cost too premium. If you could have a genuine Supreme T shirt to compare, you would know good quality fabric.

I see. In that case HYPE's shirt seems relatively thicker than most. Just that nowadays I almost never buy cotton t-shirt so I don't know how to judge their quality.

Interesting. Don't see much skate shops around these days, remember there was one at Subang SS15 but closed I think, then again did not pay too much attention to them.

I agree on that fashion clothing is not durable, for them to last longer I need to 'baby' them i.e. hand wash them, don't dry under direct sunlight, don't twist them, etc. Lol..

Thanks for sharing.
