I heard that Sharks generally don't like to live in confined spaces. They prefer to just wander around in open ocean and hunt as they go. That's why many aquariums often cannot house more than a couple of sharks due to space issues and possible aggression towards other sharks.

So if large aquariums also got problems keeping them, just imagine trying to breed and raise hundreds or thousands in an even smaller space
