TVB quality is trash nowadays and safe to say for the past decade

All they care now is casting pretty boys and pretty girls, and talent is usually secondary and overlooked if you don’t have the face..

In the past, we can boast of having Talents like Alex Man, Francis Ng, Stephen Chow, Tsai Gau, ting hai to carry the series but now all they care is hiring ppl from pageants, models and shampoo ads

TVB rewards is to please their actors/actresses one la.... how come the Favorite Female characters got 2 winners... obviously to please Miriam Yeung.

winning the award used to be a badge of honor to increase own market value when getting projects from mainland. but with tvb quality and influence going down severely in last decade, it is doubtful the award still mean much nowadays. maybe helps a bit lah when becoming HK brand ambassador or something.

and with HK in such turmoil and with mainlanders viewing HK as fan kuat zai now, tvb is likely to fade into obscurity during this decade.

To survive, TVB will come out with a lot more JV series with mainland China. Most of its stars will welcome it as it will expose them to the huge mainland China. The production budget will probably be higher but TVB will alienate its core viewers in the long run. Hong Kong people will not like it and their overseas market like Astro will also lose interest.

What made TVB popular in the first place was their good actors and actresses. Even though, their production budget was low, their script and storyline were good. You'll never see a series like The Greed of Man again as such stories will never get through China censorship board. The golden age of TVB was the 1980's, 1990's and early 2000. This is the period where they created stars like Andy Lau, Chow Yuen Fatt, Steven Chow, etc.

actually i don't think it is true that PRC will censor a series like The Greed of Man. they will welcome it instead because it shows the evil of capitalism and hence meaning communism is good.
