What is the process for restaurant to apply halal certification? Is it difficult/expensive to apply? Do you eat only at halal certified restaurant?

This is why critical thinking is important during child development.
Got Halal cert, but restaurant dirty > optional to eat or not. Having halal is is not compulsory for you to eat there, if your shirt got milk chocolate spilt onto, the shirt still halal to wear but will you wear it to work with the stain still on? if kotor the halal certification can be revoked as 90% of halal certification is on hygiene related issues.
audit process is a snapshot of the current state, therefore a certificate based on the audit were of the date where audit take place. That is why for halal certification the SOP is also important to ensure continuous compliance. |

Malays when explaining to nons on why difficult to get cert:
"Halal bukan saja pork free saja tau, ia meliputi segala aspek kebersihan dari mula sampai akhir" Meanwhile malay restaurant: *langgar hampir segala aspek kebersihan kecuali babi. This post has been edited by United Rulez: Jan 16 2020, 11:44 AM |

I have not been to any mamak eatery for many years...on purpose. Too many hygiene issues, and sky-high pricing. They can plaster the walls with sijil, and I still won't step in.
Last year I discovered a Malay coffeeshop offering bakso and nasi campur. Actually it was my nose that led me to try the food there...the aromas were very enticing. Their bakso was rather meh, but the nasi campur is extremely good. Quality rice, very tasty kari ayam and their veg is not overcooked. I can clearly taste the freshness of the foods. The seasonings are well-balanced...tukang masak tu memang berbakat. The place is very clean and there's insect screens at the glass case where the lauk are kept. But there's no sijil halal, no business license hanging on the wall. The shop doesn't even have a signboard! I've since become a regular customer, eating there at least 2X a week. Maybe one day I'll take photos of the foods i bungkus and post them. Not gonna reveal the location unless they get legalized, and hopefully they will get legalized soon cos I wanna keep eating there. |

QUOTE(cassian948 @ Jan 16 2020, 11:49 AM) You have to understand that, JAKIM has SOP to follow, like any other certification body. So like i said earlier. JAKIM shouldn't kacau Kementerian Kesihatan do their job. In fact they kacau everyone. Kacau Education Ministry, kacau Health Ministry. But in the end say tarak power, say for fun only.An apple still Halal, doesn't matter JAKIM produce cert for it or not. |

One of the criteria to get a Halal certificate is cleanliness. So, if they failed to maintain the cleanliness, the certificate can be revoked. Probably they just maintain the halal environment during inspection. It is true "sijil halal saja tak tentu halal".

Restaurant A is dirty and no halal cert - Some Muslims eat some Muslims don't Restaurant B is clean but no halal cert - Some Muslims eat some Muslims don't Restaurant C is dirty but got halal cert - Some Muslims eat some Muslims don't Restaurant D is clean and got halal cert - Some Muslims eat some Muslims don't (maybe becoz don't like the food?). At the end of the day, it's their fucking choice. How many times want to say? |
