Malays when explaining to nons on why difficult to get cert:

"Halal bukan saja pork free saja tau, ia meliputi segala aspek kebersihan dari mula sampai akhir"

Meanwhile malay restaurant: *langgar hampir segala aspek kebersihan kecuali babi.

The principleis simple, until Halal food is proven Haram, than it is safe to eat.

Same case like the impossible pork issue - it is edibles for Muslim unless it is proven Haram to eat.

You have to understand that, JAKIM has SOP to follow, like any other certification body.

An apple still Halal, doesn't matter JAKIM produce cert for it or not.

I have not been to any mamak eatery for many years...on purpose. Too many hygiene issues, and sky-high pricing. They can plaster the walls with sijil, and I still won't step in.

Last year I discovered a Malay coffeeshop offering bakso and nasi campur. Actually it was my nose that led me to try the food there...the aromas were very enticing. Their bakso was rather meh, but the nasi campur is extremely good. Quality rice, very tasty kari ayam and their veg is not overcooked. I can clearly taste the freshness of the foods. The seasonings are well-balanced...tukang masak tu memang berbakat.

The place is very clean and there's insect screens at the glass case where the lauk are kept. But there's no sijil halal, no business license hanging on the wall. The shop doesn't even have a signboard! I've since become a regular customer, eating there at least 2X a week. Maybe one day I'll take photos of the foods i bungkus and post them. Not gonna reveal the location unless they get legalized, and hopefully they will get legalized soon cos I wanna keep eating there.

So like i said earlier. JAKIM shouldn't kacau Kementerian Kesihatan do their job. In fact they kacau everyone. Kacau Education Ministry, kacau Health Ministry. But in the end say tarak power, say for fun only.

If kotor, actually not halal already. Halal means must be bersih for makan.

Korek me if wrong.

One of the criteria to get a Halal certificate is cleanliness. So, if they failed to maintain the cleanliness, the certificate can be revoked. Probably they just maintain the halal environment during inspection. It is true "sijil halal saja tak tentu halal".
