Recently im doing research about Hardware MPEG-4 Encode & Decode.
I found that Display Card now day also can be use in Encode also, but mostly display card din't have video input or called VIVO feature, so wanna ask have any ppl try use normal PCI video input capture card, then use the display card to hardware encode it? Because from i know is only can use file convert to file method at display card as hardware encode. Or may be i need to find USB or PCI Hardware MPEG-4 Capture device to encode it? like below model i found:

Aviosys DVD Plus 3210
Aviosys DVR Plus 3230
D-Link DUB-AV300
Darim MPEGator4 drool.gif
Dazzle Video Creator Platinum / DVC 170
FAST MovieMaker USB
H&B TX-100
ICP IVC-4200
LifeView FlyTV MCE Cardbus
LifeView TV Walker Ultra
Miglia AlchemyTV DVR
Miglia EvolutionTV
Plextor ConvertX PVR PX-TV402U
Plextor ConvertX PVR PX-TV402U MAC
Plextor ConvertX PX-M401U
Plextor ConvertX PX-M402U

Any ideal??

For Decode section, now day computer very powerful izzit still need Hardware Decoder to play MPEG-4???

the only card i have a is a soft-tv tuner. Damn, if I have an extra RM399, I'd hit Hauppage MCE 150 or better.

Compro H900 is using Conexant CX23418 10-bits single-chip MPEG-1/2 encoder with analog video/audio broadcast decoder, for MPEG-4 is need use software to encode, then have you computer install the codec properly?

ATI Theater 650 Series is High-Resolution Video Decoder with 12-bit ADC, only have Hardware MPEG-2 Encoder.

Because MPEG-4 has so many profiles encoders tend to shy away from it, resulting in very little parts accelerating MP4 encoding through hardware.

Your best bet might be Intel's Penryn chip combined with DivX (It's not simple profile but it works most of the time and with Penryn's SSE4 it's ridiculously fast)
