well, that's the main reason she started recording video, since she has to travel back to her kampung to take care of her grandma, she wanted to get some extra income for her free time. it was not smooth sailing at first. She started selling her food product online, and she thought that recording video doing it could help her market it. the response was bad and she stop doing it after few months and didnt make any video for 2 years.

After she exploded online , she dont really sell those items anymore, because she doesnt need to do it. Shooting video makes much more than selling some product which she makes, there is only so much one could produce. Her effort is crazy behind the scenes. One video usually takes at least 6 months to finish and some took up to 2 years to finish. You could say that definitely its worth to do it since anyone of her video could get tens of millions of views and the money is huge. BUT

Only a handful of youtubers has her determination and she has been doing this alone before she got famous. Her first break was the lan zhou ramen, which she learn from a friend's friends shop. She begs to the chef to teach her the skill to making ramen, she was learning it everyday at the shop for 4 months without any salary or compensation. Her previous video before could only get around one thousand views. How many people or youtubers would do it for a video that most properly could only get one thousand views.

another thing to note is, the cameraman mainly takes B-roll, she still do the framing of main shoot by herself.

envy and jealousy. Many cant accept the fact that she did the videos herself and she only employs one cameraman and one assistant for her later stage videos. well, because they cant do it doesnt means she cant do it.
She did stop for 3 months due to personal attacks on her and her grandma. After that she release a video showing all her unedited clips showing she was alone in her video, tens of thousands of clips showing that she press record on her camera and run in to camera scene and then after done, run back to stop recording. if the video is not focus properly, record again. if she screws up, record again. if she is not in the position she wanted in the video, record again.
Many was saying that she must be a set up artist with backing of a production or internet company. Luckily she was able to overcome the critics and thats y you could have the liziqi today. Mad respect for her.

In China, there are over at least half dozen of big/decent video sharing sites. Chinese from PRC only use Chinese video sharing sites, in general.

There are Meipai, Youku, Tencent, bilibili, AcFun and many more. If you sum it up together, it is a lot. I ain't no going to track down the numbers lol. Ask TS on that.
