In the past 2 decades, the main reason why there are disunity is religion as well as political reasons. Both goes hand in hand and can't be separated. There are more and more religious issues nowadays compared to the 80's and before. This also coincide with rise of Islamisation in all aspect of Malaysian society. Malays before the 90's still have a very secular outlook on life. Political reasons go hand in hand with religion created the toxic atmosphere we're facing today. This has become worst since BN fell because more and more people are exploiting them to create an environment of unstability in order for them to pave the way for BN to come back. The strategy seems to be working because PH government is still clueless on how to handle them.
