Erm, I am not that versed in this but most of us have this problem. We did not share the internet connection. Did you share your internet connection?

no no.
Click your network connection. The 2 pc linking each other and blinking light. Look for Share connection. Then you will be given choice to share with who. You just select wifimax then |

How much is a wireless router?
A compatible one that is cheapest. @Smash : Wifimax is a USB device used to connect the DS through to internet. |

QUOTE(reveur @ Jul 17 2007, 05:30 PM) Well, it is fast... for the 360... i noticed that connection speeds a lot slower for the DS... but most importantly it is convenient and looks kinda cool...connects straight to the telephone line and that's it. No messy lines anywhere, except for the LAN to my workstation. |

However, I have mixed encounter for this product on different machines.1st time, setup on a PC, til I want 2 smash the PC still can't... 2nd time, on laptop, smooth~smooth. Install, plug and play! very straight forward installation. RM70 only at AllIT Hypermart. This post has been edited by penman: Jul 17 2007, 05:50 PM |

it's starting to become extinct, but i managed to purchase a single function 802.11b wireless access point (not a router and/or modem) for around $150.
it's what you connect to an existing router or switch to create an 802.11b wireless network. |

QUOTE(smashpOp @ Jul 18 2007, 01:04 AM) I'm using wifilink. It's about RM 100 on Play-Asia (details here). Shouldn't be hard to setup, esp if you are IT savvy. |

I've written some blog entries last year regarding using USB WiFi Adapters.
Here are some setup tips on the Nintendo DS (my original blog entry here, check it out for some PC setup tips as well): 1. Set Auto-obtain IP Address to No. 2. Set IP Address to something along the lines of the IP addresses in your network, but of course choose a unique address. In my case, my laptop's IP address is 192.168.1.4 and I set the Nintendo DS's IP address to 192.168.1.9 3. Set the Subnet Mask, which I set to 255.255.255.0. 4. Set the Gateway, which I set to the router's IP address which in this case is 192.168.1.1 5. Set Auto-obtain DNS to No 6. Set the Primary and Secondary DNS to Streamyx's (or your particular ISP of choice) DNS which are 202.188.1.5 and 202.188.0.133 For recommendations on what USB WiFi Adapters to buy, refer to this blog entry, click here. |

trying to remember how i set up my Wifi-max. Sharing the Internet Connection is one thing (think I did it either on my LAN settings or my dialer settings).
after that, you have to set the device to the wifi band you want. it's the zd software (http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/513006-...lease-help.html). after that, you have to use the Wifi-max software (the shots are like on this article (http://gear.ign.com/articles/704/704528p1.html)) to detect the USB device. not sure if they ever did fix that software bug but the software doesn't automatically detect Wifi-max device upon completion of installation. and this link gives you an idea how to set it up. (http://uk.codejunkies.com/support_article_...6&g=5&ProdId=26) since i got a new pc last year, i haven't install wifi max yet since i seldom play the DS. and for the others, why did i go for Wifi Max? 1-2 years ago, there were issues with Wifi connection between the DS and a lot of the wireless routers. it was listed down on the Nintendo Wifi page on the compatible routers. at the time, i remembered that the belkin and dlink version available all had issues so rather than waste a few hundred ringgit then, I got a Wifi Max which worked, albeit a bit of teething connection problems. Plus it's more portable than other routers. Added on July 18, 2007, 2:47 pmone other thing about that dongle. the plastic casing is a cheap polystyrene one that will give off a burning smell if you use it for too long. i had to put a coaster underneath to make sure it didn't burn the table. what was your 3rd test?
bear in mind that this dongle doesn't activate immediately all the time when you're rebooting the PC. which is probably a good thing anyway coz the circuits used to be burning the casing quite a bit! i'm still trying to find my installation CD. can't remember where I put it. too many new devices = too many CDs around. |
