should be enough if you dun plan to install many programs
if you want, you have to install programs in other partition my windows vista (business) folder takes about 7.5gb that excludes other directories like program files, program data and users |

I used Vista on my Apple MacBook with a 15GB partition with no problems but couldn't download or install anymore space because once I installed all the Boot Camp programs it took 10GB out of 15GB. I installed Microsoft Offce 2007 and Adobe CS2 Premium and then my MacBook Vista 15GB partition no more space. So I change the partition space to 20GB. And now it is suffecient enough for me. Got 3GB left. For my XP partition 15GB is more than enough but yea 25GB is the best.

Actually it does not "drain" a lot of memories. It allocates idle memories to software that it think you will need the most. Thus while it looks like it's using more memories, it's actually optimising it according to the PC. That's why it can happily run on a 512MB RAM PC compared to XP

yes, but that depends on the software that you use as well. Games eats a lot of RAM these days, and 2GB are a must for future games. if you are only using the OS, 512 is good enough, and 1GB for Aero effects

Depends. I tested Vista on 4 rigs. Pentium III 1.7GHz + 512MB, Pentium 4 2.8HT + 512MB, AMD Athlon XP 3000+ + 1GB and my rig Imma using now. While it's slower to run on 512, changing the skins to basic windows speed up the system considerbly and it was as fast as XP on both the PIII and PIV machine. It was bearable on the AMD system with Aero on and only a bit slower than XP on the same machine. Note that on the same AMD rig, XP running with Glass effects was retardly slower than native vista running Aero. superfetch is SHIT. i hope ms or someone do a hack to permanently disable this shit. barely enough. without aeroglass that is yes, run 1gb with aeroglass and it will be like using an ancient 386sx pc to run windows95 Back to topic, use 20GB for 32bit and 25 for 64bit IMO |

QUOTE(ahtiven @ Jul 17 2007, 12:33 PM) Urmm, dude how can you use 15GB. Once I installed the Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit with Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, Norton 360, Ahead Nero 7 Premium Reloaded and all my Boot Camp drivers. Once I restarted the laptop (Apple MacBook) I check free HDD space. 3GB. How can? No Firefox, songs or movies. |
