It covers the whole world and it's a known fact that mandarin is the most spoken since, China already > 1 billion.

But that picture was posted by a FB group called Sydney Lingos so TS thought the numbers are based in Australia alone

To me, there are too many people speaking mandarin, thats why its not worth learning.

A language is worth learning if

1) It is the language of $$$$$$ and knowledge

2) It is the language that is scarce and valuable and can be monetised and is fun.


the problem with chinese is, is that it doesnt fit 1). Knowledge and commerce are ALL in english. And if you try to learn chinese, you will still be behind the actual chinese speakers, as it is NOT scarce.

now 2) is the reason you want to learn a language thats not 1). It must be scarce, fun to learn, and can be monetised if needed to.

This is why japanese is better. its scarce and fun. you can now read exh and e-h and manga. And there is a huge scarcity of japanese speakers outside japan. Likewise, the 2) language is unique for all countries. If you are japanese, it is better to learn english than mandarin for obvious reasons

but china business > Japanese

Learn the language is those few big blobs and.you are seriously international and can be anywhere.
