Serious Gaming Packet Lost on different modems
I tested on 2 different modems and 2 different PCIE wifi card.
1. D-Link DSL-2877AL AC750 (serious packet lost)
2. TP-Link Archer VR400 AC1200

Connect with Desktop
Tested with both 2 different wifi Adapter
1. Asus PCIE PCE-AC88 AC3100
2. TPlink Archer T9E AC1900

ISP: TM Streamyx 8M

The game that I tested is Apex Legends.
The result is pretty weird at below.
Even tested using the different Wifi Adapter, the Packet lost on Dlink modem is always more than 50% in game. But the ping is slightly lower compare to TPLink Archer VR400.
Compare to TPlink modem, the ping is slightly higher but 0% packet lost.
At first i was tot my TPLink wifi adapter was not strong enough, but after i bought the Asus wifi adapter, the result shows the same.
I tested on both 2.4G and 5G band all show the same result.

Anyone know why is this happened?
or DLink is actually shitty modem?

I guess D-Link using FastPath, while TP-Link using Interleaved.

ADSL FastPath:
Low latency but possible corruption on low SNR.

ADSL Interleaved:
Latency get higher due to Modem need shuffle ATM Frame and add Error Correction, and DSLAM had to hold ATM frame to arrange correct order and apply Error Correction.

If you can access Modem DSL modulation, try change some mode, ADSL or ADSL2+ or G.DMT or G.lite,

some modem like Asus DSL-AC52U, have G.Imp (Noise immunity) Asus capable to eliminate noise on FastPath mode, like Interleaved on steroids

After serious consideration for laying the cable, i've decided just bite the bullet to settle this once for all.
The game server ping not much different even tho using Ethernet cable.

But during the speed test i can see the speed a lot more consistent, less drop and very stable.

After all the effort seems worth it.
Might want to sell the Asus PCIE adapter.

Hmm, I not sure how to do that.
But i chat with Dlink support, they also suprise by the Packet lost but low ping.
No wonder last year i always get dragging in game. Voice call sometimes the sound will drop off.
Always tot my wifi adapter is bad.
this Dlink modem is the shittest modem that i ever used.

Maybe yours have bad unit?
My friend using it with 8Mbps streamyx and with WiFi, no problem at all,

Try this, for last efforts

for 2.4GHz:
802.11n only (802.11b/g is ancient, set N only)
40MHz Bandwidth (double wide, more lane)
Channel 3 (some client can't connect lower band, just in case)

for 5GHz
802.11ac only (802.11a is ancient support only 20MHz width, 802.11n is better at 2.4GHz for range)
80MHz Bandwidth (triple wide at cost of range)

explicit wireless generation, 802.11n for 2.4GHz, 802.11ac for 5GHz, just to reduce router SoC CPU

Nope, its a brand new RMA unit. Last unit was like that also 50%+ packet lost on Apex Legends Server, new RMA unit also the same.
this is madness, my old laptop only support 2.5G band, no point limit that.

Thx for reminding me, i decided to test one more time.
out of curiosity i go and do one more test on Dlink modem.
Model D-Link DSL-2877AL AC750
I think i can conclude that this D-link model is clearly trash, even on LAN i gets 60% packet lost lolol.

Update: The Dlink CS ask me to update firmware to 1.17SE.
Same result. doh.gif
