2.4GHz is hardly to get more than 100mbps. Mostly floating around 80~90mbps for the best results what I can get. It just good for wider coverage only. My suggestion is switch off all your routers 2.4GHz and turn 5GHz into mesh.

Get a set of mesh router such like TP-Link Deco M9 Plus (RM1,269)

or Aimesh for Asus router.

So now you can totally switch off the 2.4GHz channel, then use your mesh wifi set to spread out the 5GHz wifi around every corners of your house.

Smart home IoT devices do not support 5ghz at the moment sweat.gif

As far as I know that Deco mesh system uses the same SSID for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. So, if you want to enable 2.4Ghz then it will share the same WiFi name as the 5Ghz network. You can't set different SSID names for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. This is what I know from my knowledge after I have played around with my Deco M5.

Ok? So what's your point? I didn't say that Smart home IoT devices need a lot of bandwidth. Read up clearly.

Actually my home RT-AC86U also do the same thing, my 2.4GHz and 5GHz was combined as smart connect. When I go far, my wifi speed will stay below 100mbps, when I go near to router, wifi speed stay above 100mbps.

Oh yea, speaking of Smart connect, can you help me out? biggrin.gif Cuz some of my phone doesn't seem to work well with the Smart connect though.
