hello all,
I had just subscript maxis home fiber optic 300mbps. The wifi 5Gzh is good with speed of 200 to 220 mbps. But the 2.4gzh is only between 30-50 mbps. (Tested the speed in the same manner, environment and device). How can I increase the speed because most of my devices at home like cctv, smart home, printer etc uses wifi 2.4gzh? I hv tried tweeking the channel to 1, 6 & 11 but not much diff in speed. Thanks

2.4GHz is hardly to get more than 100mbps. Mostly floating around 80~90mbps for the best results what I can get. It just good for wider coverage only. My suggestion is switch off all your routers 2.4GHz and turn 5GHz into mesh.

Get a set of mesh router such like TP-Link Deco M9 Plus (RM1,269)
https://shopee.com.my/TP-LINK-Deco-M9-Plus-...0984.1750500485

or Aimesh for Asus router.

So now you can totally switch off the 2.4GHz channel, then use your mesh wifi set to spread out the 5GHz wifi around every corners of your house.

Don't ask me why so expensive because last time people blame that Malaysia internet is slow and expensive. When internet slow, our routers requirement is low. That's why you can't feel the different between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. When internet is fast (thanks to our minister), Unifi and Maxis been turboed up to 800mbps. Everybody start to buy expensive routers, need to build mesh system for big family. Budget for more than RM1,000, it's normal.

As far as I know that Deco mesh system uses the same SSID for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. So, if you want to enable 2.4Ghz then it will share the same WiFi name as the 5Ghz network. You can't set different SSID names for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. This is what I know from my knowledge after I have played around with my Deco M5.

Actually my home RT-AC86U also do the same thing, my 2.4GHz and 5GHz was combined as smart connect. When I go far, my wifi speed will stay below 100mbps, when I go near to router, wifi speed stay above 100mbps.
