I'm currently running 195/50 on my 15x7 sport rims, which is the optimal size

but I'm thinking if I were to choose 185/55, will it be suitable? I heard it involves stretching but whats the downside of this?

Too narrow, should be 195 minimum.

Downside of stretching:
- no rim protection
- harsher ride coz sidewall is maxed out to stretch
- looks ugly IMHO. Lol

I would go for 195 or 205

I think 185/55 max supported width is around 6.5", is better to stick with 195 for 7" width sport rims for better rim protection.

Why not. 195 or even 205 is acceptable. Min is 185. Max I don’t think anyone would go that far.
