generally you are right. but a lot of us flashaholics are not just looking at lumens and high output, we are also crazily "attracted" to the efficiently of the electronic circuits, the looong runtime and finding ways to slow drain an "already dead" battery to power up an LED and let it run for days before we pronounce the battery as "recyclable material"... we are just weird... laugh.gif

as some members pointed out, if your device supports it (1.2V), the IKEA LADDA Rechargeable AA/AAA brown colored are very budget friendly and good quality. These NiMH battery are less likely to leak compare to Alkaline batteries. Oh yes, even NiMH leaks given the right condition. Also, we gave the Alkaline a nick-name, we call them "Alkaleak" rolleyes.gif
most of us also believe that the white label made-in-Japan IKEA LADDA AA/AAA NiMH came from the same factory that produces the legendary Eneloop LSD-NiMH battery before Panasonic took over the Eneloop branding... and it is the same factory that now OEM for Fujitsu, Duracell and other similar high quality LSD-NiMH batteries.

the 2 models of consumer-grade batteries shown in your post #30 are top end products, with the Energizer Ultimate Lithium being the best of the best thumbsup.gif . The Panasonic Evolta is the brand and model that yours truly use in clocks, remote controls, and other low drain devices with long term usage. we normally check them annually and make it a point to replace the battery 6 to 9 months before the stated expiry date even if there are still juices left in them. we re-purpose these used batteries as night-lights or other single use purpose before sending them to recycle centre. we use these Evolta because over the years, they have proven to be less prone to leakage compare to other Alkalines although Evolta may not offers the longest lasting, that Crown (for longest lasting Alkaline) belongs to Energizer Max and those made-in-USA Duracell coppertop. Energizer Ultimate Lithium is a different beast altogether. sweat.gif

do you know that Energizer Ultimate Lithium has upgraded their already best of the best to be better since 2016? They made improvement in the following area:
  • 2.5A Continuous Discharge (up from 2.0A)
  • 4.0A Pulse Discharge (up from 3.0A)
  • capacity is now 3400-3500mAh (up from 3000mAh)
these upgraded Ultimate Lithium has expiry year of 2036 or later. rclxm9.gif
these Ultimate Lithium has the best long term storage and operating condition compare to others if you are planning/preparing for emergency items.
