Searching for good deals on AAA battery for alarm clock, flashlight, alarm, etc. Some of the things are emergency items, so just tuck the battery in and will never use the devices (touch wood). Not gonna use it for toys or motorized item as I don't have any. Does buying the cheapest rechargeable AA/AAA for this purpose even make sense? If yes, what model (battery/cell) do you recommend? Generally, NiMH batteries that are properly cared for (charged and used often, stored in a cool, dry place, and not dropped) will last for 500 – 1000 charges or approximately two to three years. Remember, the more you use and charge NiMH, the longer they will last.

can give example such devices? high power lithium AA can go to 1.8v per cell. rechargeable 1.2v not gonna cut it. tested it when digicam with AA was common.
