Microholography milks 500GB out of DVD-sized discs, Yup, it is 500 GB per disc.

for a mass storage, I'd say tape is cheaper and more durable compared to optical discs.
But since 500GB DVD is no longer impossible, just hope the price per MB is cheaper than tape and the drive that support it will become more avail to the masses.

it's not about the quality of the disc. It can be always be improved. Amazing microscopic DVD physical track is the matter that should discuss not the medium quality.

QUOTE(CHIP CN @ Jul 16 2007, 12:46 PM) blue ray drive..... rm2.5k, but only 30GB @ 50GB disk can burn, hard disk only rm870 can get 750GB.... u can get 3 750GB hdd... cool.... Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are new, yet to be cheap per MB. IT may take a few years to be cheap like DVD-RW. Anyways optical and magnetic storage have different manufacturing cost.
