practically. . . you take the key

for example Key of C:

C D E  F  G A  B  C

I II III IV V VI VII oct

then just arrange according to the numbers. . . there are basic set formulas for certain genres of music. . .

Jazz uses alot of II-V-I and so on so forth. . .

with that you can start to play with modes as each number represents a mode. . .

and from there you can expand sommore. . . lol

you got any site where to find more arrangement on jazz ?

I think it depends on what the judges want, if the marking sheets have "technique" "tightness" "sound balancing", then this BotB should be more focused on the band itself. Saw some BotB that have "audience appeal" "originality" "creativity" "appearance", obviously it is for bands that look good only, with mediocre skills also can win.

lol..i think looking good on stage , showmanship , appearance , choosing the right cover for the right crowd has its own difficulties lor ..

there are mainly 2 parties you need to satisfy

1.Crowd
2.Judge

3.yourself/band (which seldom happens)

..most of the cover song..either satisfy the "crowd only" ..but not the judges..
some ..satisfy the judges ..not the crowd..

its difficult getting Both sides..

thats why a good medly..is quite a good idea

reminds me of 1 of the battle of the bands i joined during high school time..

one of the band (metal band ) ..asked their fans to "mosh" to their music..
the crowd loved it ...the judges walked away..
