That actually valid if u in seller's shoes pun intended. They still need to sell that shoes.
And that is problem with this edu minister. Its good he leap into action. But he never seem to sit down and think of the consequences no matter how small. Just like jawi, straight off making it compulsory and then back track to optional after backlash. Like even if u think jawi is just khat for artistic only, a lot of non will view it with suspicioan especially after the whole medan dakwah on borneo incident. And that's another thing, maszlee seem more interested in shoving Islam into things than issue that PH has promised to resolve like the long standing UEC. I don't like mandarin btw even though cina. But if u promise something, handle that one first than jumping into stupid ones.
Hence the reason I said the shoe issue can be handled better.
I’ll chalk that down to inexperience.
I’d say the Jawi thing, once made compulsory with those 3 pages, stick to your gun.
The medan dakwah thing was really taken out of context. I know him personally, Maszlee. The way he meant dakwah is convincing people to do the right thing, not in religious context. Still, he said it and people misinterpreted it. Hindsight is 20/20 after all.
The UEC thing, they should’ve gone for middle ground. Just say UEC will be recognised but the applicant will need to pass certain qualifications from SPM or STPM as well. That way the promise won’t be broken and will appease the majority as well.
