The media loves to ridicule his black shoes nonsense.
Regarding the Khat and Jawi thing is all instructed by Thanos himself as it's a great tactic to distract the masses from bad economy.
Those politicians that wanna stick long will become a headless chicken, no real changes will happen.
For 20months I'd say he did a great job, but the rest of the major decisions like reverting to English to teach maths and science is not his decision to make alone.
