Broke my phone recently, screen crack, it is a cheap phone (less than a thousand in 2017)

Told my self, why not repair it, diy

Start to buying stuff, go multiple of physical shops (no lowyat, not sure if they selling this kind of thing), proceed with copee online shop

Follow youtube tutorial from multiple of videos because screen replacement didnt come with front housing, need to separate old housing and paste new screen

In the middle of de-attach battery, it bend and start to produce weird smell, proceed with buying new battery

Most video takes about 30 - 40 minutes to repair, i take about 3 days, next time 1 day is enough

List of things:

1. screen replacement + toolkits + postage = rm 60
2. extra repair toolkits = rm 30
3. battery = rm25
4. glue = rm 5

Total = rm 120

Before that, i ask this 1 shop, total cost including labor + screen replacement = rm150 (initially rm160-rm180) for 30 - 60 minutes. So for each repair, they cost about rm100 for labor cost

Proceed to ask around, bargain with them if i have the replacement screen how much would it cost, rm45 the best i am able to get. Thats a 100% difference of labor cost

What do u think? For someone who use <1k phone, i find that rm100 is expensive. But if it takes 3 days everytime to repair it, definitely rm100 for 3 days is worth it

but then, its not, the only reason ive use that much of time is to gather spare part

I actually just sent both my Huawei P9 Plus and Huawei Mate 9 for screen and battery replacement at Huawei Service Center at Sunway Pyramid.

Huawei P9 Plus: RM497 (screen + battery)
Huawei Mate 9: RM250 (screen + battery)

My opinion:
1. For P9 Plus, it is too expensive. Second hand cost lesser than that. Should have bought a second hand one and DIY replace the screen myself. After replace screen, at least still have another phone to use.
2. Even after screen replacement, the screen doesn't feel as good as the first time original that comes with it. Sometimes I swipe left/right, it doesn't respond. Need to do a few times. This is Huawei Authorize SC at Sunway Pyramid

Conclusion: Nowadays, it's really not worth it to repair smartphone. It's better to buy a new one.

I thougt SC suppose to use ori parts. Coz i feel it too, im using some non brand spare parts so the performance is far from previous experience.

Now u make me wonder if ori part is exist to purchase.

But to stay in this topic, you sir are willing to spent more than rm200, i guess this business no need large amount as capital, on top of it, fast roi too

RM120 plus 3 days is the cost of self-training, parts and toolkit. Next time you will be wiser and use less time.

You gain back a working phone, knowledge and experience and confidence.

Next time you can offer a service to repair phones

last time with Iphone yes i repair the screen crack. coz bought expensive, then worth it.

but for now android, if screen crack say bye bye n change new one.

if i still have to spend and desperately need to tighten up the cast, i wont go above 10 % of its value in the market.
