Otherwise, another easier workaround method will be banning disputed sellers from posting anything in the trade zone area until they're cleared of any pending disputes.

QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Sep 1 2007, 02:14 AM) Sometimes I'm pretty tempted to lock their threads temporarily if they tend to ignore their dispute untill they put some effort to settle it Viking, that's the logical thing to do for such cases and if you're gonna lock their threads temporarily, I believe everyone will agree with such a move. Of course, if possible, removing their posting rights in the trade zone area temporarily will even be much better as there are some who will create another new thread to con unsuspecting buyers.

QUOTE(zac1 @ Sep 2 2007, 04:49 PM) but ,once the people receive the dispute tag ,they will register new account like me give an example ,like cheong chan wah (big con men),he juz register new account and con forumer again .and i think tag is not the best way to solve con case i would suggest that open another black list thread and pinned it up at garage sale (then must colsed it to avoid spamming),and admin or mod can post up all the conman infomation and thier photo (i think can get from dispute zone since so many conman info over there) Well, you're right about this. Perhaps, we can only allow people with at least 1000 posts (quality ones of course) and above in order to create any new threads in the trade zone area. Not sure what the mods think about this but some forums are implementing such a rule. It's nothing new but at least, it will reduce a number of scammers here as they definitely wouldn't want to post 1000 times here before they're able to scam an innocent soul.

If not, we can ammend the rules for new member registration, a valid handphone no and a photocopy of their MyKad (uploaded online) before the new member application is approved by the mods / admins. There are an increasing number of con cases here lately but at the same, I have been getting very good deals from trustworthy sellers here. So, it's more like a win-lose situation. Well, we should put on our thinking caps to come out with an effective solution to reduce the number of con cases. Come on everybody, time to contribute some suggestions.

QUOTE(stevanistelrooy @ Sep 4 2007, 12:47 AM) It's all in http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=faq&article=38My question to you back:- How are you going to verify handphone number? In malaysia, you can buy and register it without IC(seen a lot too) and they can register fake details. Even if telco could give details, but fake details does you no good also. The best method is still, research and use logic thinking. Don't be greedy with the unbelievable cheap price. Never bank-in 100% if you do some front-payment/reservation. Play safe by yourself and you save yourself from mess. Well, that's why I mentioned that a photocopy of their MyKad for new member registration. If there are any con cases involving a particular seller, the mods / admins can release the details to the affected party. QUOTE(toby.c13 @ Sep 4 2007, 02:02 AM) but most seller dun wan to receive partial payment, insisting on full payment before delivery.. That's true unless for COD, partial payment is allowed but again, even for COD, it can turn into a con case as well.
