Hi, I would like to have some suggestions on good confinement Centre in KL area.
I read reviews from some confinement Centre and most of the confinement Centre had some amount of very bad reviews, which made me scare about it.
I was thinking to have basic meals and good care on baby only.
What other things should I consider when I survey for confinement Centre?
Are there any hidden charges I should be aware of?
First of all, you need to decide how much you're willing to pay. Good confinement centers aren't cheap. Think about it, running a center is a costly business: it's akin to running a boutique hotel + confinement catering + 24-hour newborn nursery. Staffing is the biggest concern, as you know good confinement ladies are pricey these days, so imagine trying to maintain a roster of nurses/midwives. FYI, the good centers cost north of RM15k in Klang Valley, so if you come across a center that charges below RM10k, think about what they are skimping on.
Personally, I would never trust those centers and if my budget was tight, I would seriously consider hiring a good confinement lady instead.
Secondly, when you visit confinement centers, check their nursery:
- Is it hygienic? Do they sterilize all feeding equipment and carefully label them?
- Is it safe & secured? Can any Tom, Dick & Harry enter the center without permission?
- Who are staffing the nursery? Qualified nurses on shift? mid-wives who are working 24 hours? If you get the chance to observe them handle the babies, great!
- What is the nurses/mid-wives to baby ratio?
To me, the nursery is the most important aspect of a center. You might have the most comfortable room or most delicious food served, but none of it matters if your baby is mis-handled. If you're not sure what to look out for, visit the expensive ones. Get an idea of how a proper center should be run. Then, ask the appropriate questions. Check reviews online etc.

FYI, you can read about my review of LYC TTDI Confinement Center here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=94784739There was no hidden charges levied at us by LYC, what we were quoted was exactly what we paid. Only extra was for a bottle of coconut oil for massage. If you have any question, I'll be happy to answer
