Hey guys, would appreciate some thoughts and opinions on the best monitor to fully utilize a GTX 1070.
Preferably looking at the following specs:-
144hz Refresh Rate Freesync/Gsync Must have DisplayPort 1.2a and above for Freesync 24-27' 1080p or 1440p BUDGET:- RM1,100.00
Honestly don't know about the panels. The more I read, the more confusing it is and the harder it is to decide. I've read that VA panels being the in between of TN and IPS makes it neither here nor there. TN being the best for competitive gaming with the high response times and IPS having the best colours but slower response time.
Will be using for casual gaming like Overwatch and single player RPGS. Ive narrowed down the search to the following:- AOC 24G2 - RM760 LG 27GL650F - RM1100 Viewsonic XG240R - RM1090 ASUS 24.5” VG258Q - RM900

QUOTE(damned_dude @ Dec 28 2019, 05:41 PM) Last I check this is the cheapest 1440p 27inch IPS 144hz you can get Acer VG271UP RM1,3xx https://shopee.com.my/ACER-NITRO-VG271UP-27...8462.2472454777Make sure you are buying new batches if you pick this model as older one has flicker issues. Thanks bro! If thats the case I think I'll stick with the 1080p's. I keep raising my budget! Started out at RM800 limit and raised to RM1100. Any thoughts on the most viable 1080 monitor?

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Dec 28 2019, 06:11 PM) Avoid 1080p at 27 inch due to visible pixels - so rule out the LG The XG240R along with the VG258Q is a TN panel so unless if you are gaming competitively so I'd avoid it (IPS panels are much better in terms of color reproduction and viewing angles) So my choice goes to the AOC 24G2 I've seen quite a few comments about the 1080p@27" so I'm definitely crossing that off the list. At the moment, its down to AOC 24G2 vs VG258Q! Still reading up about the panels. I've read that IPS panels have this backlight issues as well. Headache! Hahah

QUOTE(antaras @ Dec 28 2019, 10:14 PM) But do you game or use the monitor in a dark environment? Else, the backlit doesn't really matter that much. At least I didn't find it an issue. OR maybe if you play a lot of dark themed games. Something like Resident Evil or similar. Nope, normal lit room. Not particularly dark games either. I've decided to go for the AOC after some recommendations here and in general online. Seems to be a good budget monitor, and especially with freesync through the displayport. Only problem is where do I buy this from now lol.

QUOTE(antaras @ Dec 29 2019, 12:32 AM) Yeah I found the same seller on both Lazada and Shopee as well as the AOC sellers themselves on Shopee. I would much rather go to a physical shop to purchase it though and I can't seem to find a trace of it anywhere lol. Any idea which physical shop carries this unit? Thanks!
