I'm using this at the moment.

Previously used road.

For me and my santai riding style, no difference. Only thing is the MTB style pedals a bit heavier than the Road pedals.  cool2.gif

Those who want to use MTB cleats from roadbike, can just buy the adaptor. Easy peasy.

wow, that adapter looks good, any shop selling it around klang valley? or need to buy online?

currently using mtb clipless shoes, and it somehow, flex under certain circumstances though like whenever i accidentally hit a pot hole sweat.gif

I most likely stick back to RP5xx series... works well for me plus doesn't burn a hole in my pocket. Was given Torch 2.0 but saving it for trainer or back-up.

I do agree Fizik doesn't like fat footed guys like us...  whistling.gif

i thought fizik got wide models?

tried the fizik overcurve r5 wide, quite comfy for me nod.gif

why specifically need alu disc fork? I think cos alu transfers more vibrations and shock, even cheap road bikes alu frame also use carbon forks to tune the layup and have a bit of vibration dampening. usually see mtbs or town bikes with alu forks, rigid or with suspension
*
right now im riding a single speed road bike (actually a fixie with freewheel)

so, i wanted to have a disc brake instead of rim brake

already purchased a carbon fork on shopee, but wasnt sure it would be good enough..looks too, fragile sweat.gif

oh, so going for mtb style brake levers without shifters? tried BBS? try 29" wheel forks if really cannot find alu for 700c, as long as the bearing sizes are same should be ok, front might be abit taller than before though
*
ya, i bought 1 rigid fork too, turns out, its too high for my frame sweat.gif

i think the concept is just the same, only different designs
*
how does it compare though? i mean, mtb clip shoes is cheaper than road clip shoes...must be something that make em different, apart from design of course sweat.gif

more walking = mtb
less walking = road.

mtb shoes easier to walk as its cleat is lower than the soles.
*
ya, noticed this too

currently using GIRO cylinder2, short ride is ok, but on longer ride, the shoes is pinching my pinky finger sweat.gif

happened on both of by mtb clip shoes

now im thinking of getting a proper roadbike shoes

or maybe i got wrong shoe size? unsure.gif

The cleats on RB setup is bigger and wider, ensuring full contact and theoretically better power efficiency. MTB cleats are smaller, allowing easier clipping in and out.

Shoes wise, RB ones usually tight fitting to avoid unnecessary movement and again ensuring maximum efficiency, while MTB ones may allow some slack for more comfort and has more look choices.
*
i see, then, both my mtb shoes are narrow fittings then? since im experienceing pinky finger pinching whenever i went for a long ride

need to find wide shoes then sweat.gif

probaby.  i know some Giro branded with sneaker look.

anyway lately i cycle with sandals more lol

last time i used vans shoes on cheapo flat pedals, just nice for leisure ride...but i like doing 50km+ ride and maintaining cadence on it is kinda tiring

after switching to my clip shoes, can feel better when pedalling..just that the shoes is hurting my feet dry.gif

if you are riding for short distances mtb enough, road has bigger platform so more comfortable less pressure under the foot at the cleat area. mtb cleats last longer if you unclip often, road ones quite soft
*
ok point taken

now undecided between gaerne or fizik sweat.gif

gonna check out gaerne g hurricane, at least can save money from buying new pedals sweat.gif

fizik overcurve r4 is the only wide model they have, thats why its in my list too

Ah Chat,

U mentioned single speed bike ( ride on road), i presume your not riding a road bike.

Fixie or probably a single speed foldie/velo perhaps?

If ur mainly riding town areas, stop a lot and walk around a lot doing your thing..then stick to ur mtb cleat kind of shoes.
I didn't say MTB shoes specifically, but there are touring shoes that based on MTB cleats. Such as from Shimano range, and quite a few actually.
These shoes are normally comfy, not built like tank as MTB shoes, and great for walking and cycling.

I have been using both platform for a long while for my roadies, foldies and velos..all on roads , long distances and short commutes like you.

Since ur not doing road biking on a roadbike, a road shoe, with its road cleats ..u will be complaining and cursing in no time, for the kind of ride u are now.
Walking around with a dedicated roadie shoe isn't exactly fun or comfortable.
*
yeah, a fixie with freewheels.. i usually ride town, but not much walking though...but yeah, will often stop at junctions etc

thing is, the shoes im wearing now is not exactly suitable for my feet..i need a wider shoes...so far i can find are only road shoes that are wide n comfy enough

wanted to test the shimano xc3 wide shoes, but all shop didnt have stock at the moment sweat.gif
