KTM to Bangi
I’m planning to buy a property in dengkil and commute to Midvalley through KTM. There’s direct KTM service, but not sure how reliable it is in terms of timing etc ? If I’m okay with 1hr, is that a viable decision?

KTM is getting worse. in KL Sentral now operating 2 platform instead of 4. you have to think if KTM service delayed or suspended, do you have other alternative?

That one day my friend missed an 8:00pm train at KL Sentral just by a few seconds. The door closed just right in front of him.
The next train? 9:00pm.
Since then he drives to work lol

QUOTE(techman007 @ Dec 22 2019, 11:50 PM) One hr? I thought their frequency is every 20min .., You'd be a fool if you trust ktm. There's frequent train breakdown/system issue, especially if raining. If raining, u better check their twitter first or prepare plan B. Learn to use bus or LRT if available nearby your place

Your work day is at the mercy of KTM. Not the wisest choice unless you have a car that you can use when KTM fcuk up, which as most user here can attest, happens frequently.

ktm = kena tipu man
timing of arrival not accurate, can deviates for over half an hour from time to time, break down happens and can last for days sometimes after you get on train, then the train stop halfway waiting for other trains whatever, end up still delay for over half an hour
in short, don't count on the same experiences as LRT or MRT. delay or miss train can and will happen. expect late for work due to ktm issue.

Here from Rawang - KL sentral, trains come about once per hour, which makes it too unreliable. Miss that one train and you'll have to be late for work or late for dinner

Dengkil? Better take ERL from Putrajaya until TBS then interchange LRT to Midvalley. Or ERL until KL sentral and interchange to Midvalley.

KTM komuter service is really crap.
But KTM northern komuter are generally quite on time. Just that during holiday season, the trains will pack to the brim and you have to stand for 1 hour inside the train and sweating.

But in case it helps: KTM publishes their Komuter timetable here. Generally they keep to their timing but you have to know thst because of the double tracking project the timetable gets updated (for better or worse) quite often. Until thst project is completed you have to plan for an alternative mode of transport in case the timetable changes that doesnt fit to your timing.

QUOTE(techman007 @ Jan 2 2020, 12:11 PM) Thanks. I was looking for that timetable. My office is in Midvalley. Since your office is in midvalley you can consider walking to Abdullah hukum lrt and transfer to MRT at either pasar seni/kl sentral. Then take the MRT to Kajang.. Not all the way to Bangi but at least its another alternative.. Plus you can use the myrapid 100 pass which would be cheaper compared to KTM fares (ktm isnt covered in the myrapid 100 pass).

The KTM is slated to improve its frequency once the KVDT project is completed. Phase 1 is slated to be finished by the end of 2020 (or 2021?) and should have a frequncy of 1 train every 7.5 mins.
If you are willing to wait till then, its fine. But do know that the project was delayed once before

ERL can survive bcos no better alternative exist yet. We Putrajaya/MPSepang folks are desperately waiting for MRT2 completion to enjoy affordable train.

LRT and MRT is much better.

Please do not use KTM if possible. I've tried to use its services for almost a year previously and was so dissapointed with regular delays and even not stopping at kl sentral and just stop in a station before kl sentral. If possible seek for other alternatives like LRT or MRT for now until they really improve the services which I doubt will be anytime soon.

I am surprised with the comments here since this thread is pretty new. So far for the past 3 months, my usual timing train has never been late for more than 2 minutes except for one day where one of the station was flooded and the whole services was disrupted. Never for the past 3 months the train deviated more than 2 minutes from the schedule. In fact for the past 1 year, the train being late for more than 5 minutes were less than 10 times.
