KTM komuter service is really crap.

But KTM northern komuter are generally quite on time. Just that during holiday season, the trains will pack to the brim and you have to stand for 1 hour inside the train and sweating.

KTM to Bangi

I’m planning to buy a property in dengkil and commute to Midvalley through KTM. There’s direct KTM service, but not sure how reliable it is in terms of timing etc ? If I’m okay with 1hr, is that a viable decision?

Just saw this.. But in case it helps: KTM publishes their Komuter timetable here. Generally they keep to their timing but you have to know thst because of the double tracking project the timetable gets updated (for better or worse) quite often. Until thst project is completed you have to plan for an alternative mode of transport in case the timetable changes that doesnt fit to your timing.

Since your office is in midvalley you can consider walking to Abdullah hukum lrt and transfer to MRT at either pasar seni/kl sentral. Then take the MRT to Kajang.. Not all the way to Bangi but at least its another alternative.. Plus you can use the myrapid 100 pass which would be cheaper compared to KTM fares (ktm isnt covered in the myrapid 100 pass).

The KTM is slated to improve its frequency once the KVDT project is completed. Phase 1 is slated to be finished by the end of 2020 (or 2021?) and should have a frequncy of 1 train every 7.5 mins.

If you are willing to wait till then, its fine. But do know that the project was delayed once before

would need completion of phase 2 before the frequency drop to 7.5 minutes. so there's few more years away.

since TS going to buy in Dengkil why not just use ERL for the time being

Dengkil?
Better take ERL from Putrajaya until TBS then interchange LRT to Midvalley.
Or
ERL until KL sentral and interchange to Midvalley.

RM 55 to KL central (from KLIA) . That ERL is cutthroat services.even putrajaya will not be cheap.

Yes, not cheap.
ERL can survive bcos no better alternative exist yet.

We Putrajaya/MPSepang folks are desperately waiting for MRT2 completion to enjoy affordable train.

KTM is dinosaur technology with equally dinosaur people managing it. They should replace it with MRT technology.

LRT and MRT is much better.

ERL is an MCA crony project, overly expensive. vmad.gif It is owned by Yeoh Tiong Lay

In Bangkok, you just pay 50 baht (around 6 ringgit) to get to town center from airport. rclxms.gif

I agree. Please do not use KTM if possible. I've tried to use its services for almost a year previously and was so dissapointed with regular delays and even not stopping at kl sentral and just stop in a station before kl sentral.

If possible seek for other alternatives like LRT or MRT for now until they really improve the services which I doubt will be anytime soon.

Their target is 45 minutes frequency but there are times you'll have to wait for 2 hours.

I am surprised with the comments here since this thread is pretty new.

So far for the past 3 months, my usual timing train has never been late for more than 2 minutes except for one day where one of the station was flooded and the whole services was disrupted.

Never for the past 3 months the train deviated more than 2 minutes from the schedule. In fact for the past 1 year, the train being late for more than 5 minutes were less than 10 times. hmm.gif
