 Issues regarding Maxis Fibre / Astro IPTV Maxis

Hi, I'm on the Astro IPTV Maxis package (10mb/s). I'm using the default Huawei modem + Maxis Technicolor TG784Vn router.

My internet speed on wifi has been really slow lately. My wifi download speed is between 0.87 mb/s - 2 mb/s and upload speed is between 0.64 mb/s to 2.5 mb/s.

I have been constantly calling Astro IPTV hotline to ask them for help regarding the issue, they keep sending me through a bunch of diagnostic tests and software resets etc etc through the 192.168.1.254 Maxis Gateway. It usually improves after this is done (download speed jumps up to 7 - 8 mb/s), but after a few days, it reverts back to a tortoise crawl speed.

Also, I was told by the Astro IPTV reps that I couldn't switch to the new 30mb/s package for free (which all previously existing 10mb/s customers are entitled to) because the condo I live in uses copper wire to carry the internet line to the individual units, is this true?

Oh, I am aware that my condo uses copper wire, it's a pretty old condo, built before fibrewire was introduced IIRC. I'm just wondering whether what the Astro IPTV reps told me (that I can't upgrade to the 30mb/s package because the copper wire cannot support it) is true, or they're just using it as an excuse to not help me upgrade my package (for free).

Also, is there a way to set up an auto reboot for my default Maxis router so that it can solve the slow wifi speed problem?

I also don't keep my router on 24/7, I usually switch it off around 11pm and switch it on again at 8 am when I wake up, if that makes a difference.

(the problem I do have with having to continuously reboot my modem is that I use a wireless Canon printer that relies on my home Wifi to set up a connection between my devices (laptops / smartphones) to the printer. Everytime I've reset / rebooted my Maxis router, I have to do the entire Wireless setup for the Canon printer AGAIN, which is very tedious.

Thanks for the advice regarding cascading routers, power outlet timers and dual AP guys. I'll definitely put those tips into action once I have the time to get all those equipment.
