I've just got tr-5 recently, haven't build it yet...
i must say i'm a little disappointed when i first saw the parts as there are quite a number of places to paint if you don't intend to use stickers, the beam saber also requires painting as its molded in 1 piece. |

tr-5, i remember it now, Fasap say it a great kit, but all AOZ HGUC are preatty good, the gm quel is the best GM quel and non gundam ever in the HGUC line, also even better than some gundam. Any1 thinking of getting the HGUC Blue destiny 2? heard it preatty good.

QUOTE(UNDICI @ Apr 25 2007, 06:23 PM) It'll remain here, and wont be deleted. In fact, you still find the previous Gundam threads too if you look hard enough. QUOTE(asuk @ Apr 25 2007, 07:18 PM) Unfortunately, I dont have the time and resources to keep track of all the useful links or tips in the threads. I have other threads to go through as well.. But hey, if someone can do it and post them up here, I'll make sure they end up in the first post. |

how about consolidate the modeling tips and guides(i believe most of these info are quite universal) into 1 thread and then pin it? that way when new members come in with those questions we can just point them to it.

Ya, we should make a new forum with the title modelling techniques. All those tutorial links and different techniques will be placed there..... Then this mecha and gundam modelling will continue its function for us to chit-chat on gundam stuff..... |

i think there's no need to create another thread for the modelling techniques..
maybe sumbody here could salvage the tips from the previous threads and find other related links or info and then ask jhcj (the mod) to paste it in the 1st post? |

However, ver KA comes with a core fighter 3. the amount of details, OYW has certainly got more details.. hope this helps.. correct me if i'm wrong though |

in that case, i think the best way is still for you to ask your friend about the rate over there. Its unlikely that we here knows the postage rate over there.

but, in short, if compared in terms of inner frame & the expose part which is the gold part, sf fbm looks more "gold"-ier & more "shine"-ier than the normal mg sf =)
how come the sf lightning edition doesn't have those expose parts? =/ |

And together with a RM10+ Action base, they charge you hell more, but then again, you get the normal poo joints too. Good for spare parts though, or maybe you can use it for scratch building.how come the sf lightning edition doesn't have those expose parts? =/ meanwhile... the Japs are fast... Hi, Im been toying around with gundam for quite sometime, but this time try to be more serious. I bought Strike Freedom MG and also Zeta Gundam MG. Bought the glossy spray and tried a bit on access plastic, it looks too wetty and smudgy and do we apply the marker lining before or after cause its smudge my lining with the spray.
I need some guidance please. Damn, where I can get this one... love it. Someone tell me please. http://wonderexcellence.sub.jp/gallery/wsfa1/wsfa1.jpg This post has been edited by ^666^: Apr 29 2007, 12:58 PM |

Basically I base coated with brown, did some shading with black, and some highlighting with yellow, then only apply the gold. A rather thin coat of gold that is, mainly just for the metallic look to it. Not too bad, but wanna try again, 'cause the texture of the gold mix isnt that good.its more lighter and less yellowish.. and yes..you just shake and spray straight..not sure if you put into warm water first the can..the spray will be nicer or not..just like you do for topcoat can.. but whatever also..if you spray with whatever gold also..i will look nicer than the gold plastic color of the unpainted gold part of normal SF Will post some pics after I've stripped the paint and respray again after that... |

QUOTE(lonetitans @ Apr 30 2007, 12:21 AM) er... noob question... gm01 is used to draw the lining for SF right? Normally its spray first, then do the lining. Unless your gold coating is extremely thin, so that it wont obscure the lines that you've already drawn. If you're using a spray can, then spray first then do lining, as u cannot control the amount of paint or spracy velocity with that, as compared to a dual action AB.i got a bit confused with what was posted before this.. so is draw lining first only spray gold or the other way round? thanks... QUOTE(^666^ @ Apr 29 2007, 12:51 PM) Hi, Im been toying around with gundam for quite sometime, but this time try to be more serious. I bought Strike Freedom MG and also Zeta Gundam MG. Bought the glossy spray and tried a bit on access plastic, it looks too wetty and smudgy and do we apply the marker lining before or after cause its smudge my lining with the spray. Tat's One of Keita's customize/upgraded MG SF...Heard tat he sell his models...y dun u check his site for details...not sure bout d website though...i only have this...I need some guidance please. Damn, where I can get this one... love it. Someone tell me please. http://wonderexcellence.sub.jp/gallery/wsfa1/wsfa1.jpg http://f7.aaa.livedoor.jp/~mesarion/gallery2/gallery.htm n d current auction price, a whopping 203,000 yen around RM6,350 This post has been edited by hitsugayat10: Apr 30 2007, 06:53 AM |

QUOTE(^666^ @ Apr 29 2007, 10:54 PM) thanks for the guide, i will try it and post the result later. what you mean only got wing and strike for PG..i really wanted to perfect it as per what the box shown. hahhaha. if this 2 mg gundam is successfully i can try it on a perfect grade. unfortunately only wing gundam and strike gundam available for perfect grade. one thing, the lining marker is not that good, any other solution? there is a lot more PG out there http://www.dalong.net/review/pg.htm or izzit you mean locally only sell those two pg only? but here also..TM sell many other PG also what.. QUOTE(boltguard @ Apr 30 2007, 03:46 AM) sry to ask this, never try this before but is there really a difference between: it is recommended not to spray straight on the runner..it will leave you a cutting mark later.spray black coating, after dry then spray a layer of gold (and) straight away spray gold on runners i need to know 1st before any accidents happen, lol =P spray black first or spray gold straight that one up to you..its better for you to test it somewhere first before actually doing it on ur SF. spray straight gold also is no harm..but just dont do it on the runner.. |

QUOTE(Balthasar @ Apr 30 2007, 12:45 AM) Weih...no one can help on recommending wat gold color is the most bling bling wan meh ? Spray can also can la... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Now, this is regular gold paint from tamiya with a coat of gloss coat. Personally, i think it is fine and am quite satisfied with it. http://wonderexcellence.sub.jp/gallery/wsfa1/wsfa1.jpg and the one that you c here, this is only speculation but i think this is titanium gold(or maybe gold leaf, i can't say..) So choose what colour you want for yr model. however, only the regular gold is found in spray paint form. the rest is in bottle form. it can b found in toy city in Time Square. however, i prefer buying paint from tamiya at 1U, the one at the lower floor. a lot more selecton of paint and A LOT of equiptment you can't find anywhere else. like plaplates...just my 2 cents. |

Gundam/Mecha modelling thread move too fast It's hard to find those useful modelling technique info in a thread with lots of pages |

QUOTE(heretic6 @ Apr 30 2007, 07:18 PM) it's true. lighter fluid are good to remove stain marks from markers. but i'd rather use pencil eraser because it's easier to control. besides, lighter fluid are better than using industrial thinner |

yes.. at that time..its better just to use eraser..and that also better wait till the paint really really settle with the plastic first.. fyire i dunno wo..i just use enamel for lining only..eaiser than use a marker.. never use it with AB before..most of the time i just use oil base paint with AB This post has been edited by VincC454: Apr 30 2007, 09:55 PM |

First time i've heard of enamels on acrylic though.. does the lighter fluid strip acrylic?yes.. at that time..its better just to use eraser..and that also better wait till the paint really really settle with the plastic first.. fyire i dunno wo..i just use enamel for lining only..eaiser than use a marker.. never use it with AB before..most of the time i just use oil base paint with AB |

QUOTE(VincC454 @ Apr 30 2007, 10:05 PM) feel like those fluid can strip almost every type of paint..like those hardware thinner.. Hmm.. so far the best theoritical combination for lining is a combination of different types of paint.just feel like it la..never try it before also..so i might be wrong Like for example, enamel as the base coat, with acrylic for the lining, where u can use something that can wipe off the acrylic, but leave the enamel intact. That's why I was asking if those fluids can remove enamel or not... Hmm.. tried experimenting with water based poster color on acrylic before, as you can wipe off the poster color with just color. Pretty good results, but dont work out too well in the end when I tried to brush (hand brush, as I dun have an AB yet at that time) on the vanish (acrylic) on top of it after that, as the water content will get the lining to start running. Havent' tried with ABing the varnish on instead yet though, that should be something interesting to try. |

^ the excalibur is the impulse's giant sword, you can see it in the upper right corner of Ah wang's pic.
Anyway... a glimpse of what Char's Zaku will look like... this is the normal Zaku painted in red. http://www.geocities.jp/zgmf_xg/ZAKUver2_1.html You just gotta love this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03vCVejaEd8 And here's something interesting... Deathscythe Hell Custom with Strike's frame. Not a very good mod, but interesting nonetheless. Attached thumbnail(s) |

GUYs. One question.
Will my model look as if it is "painted" if i spray the Topcoat (Flat-matt) onto my unpainted Gundam? I just finish cleaning up my OYW rx78 with thinner ..parts by parts.. bcause last time Test Airbrush on it ..but fail.. After so many years..decide to complete it.. but don think wanna try AB on it again. |

QUOTE(DevilMan @ May 3 2007, 11:27 PM) well, if u're to look at most of the nicely done up gunpla, u'll find that the surface is actually a matt surface, and not at all shiny. So, u should be looking for either a matt or flat top coat.Furthermore, the bare plastic itself dun look very good as it is, and when u spray on a gloss coat onto that, it'll make it look even worse. lol every now and then we get to talk about topcoat again....
Topcoats are great things to used on ur kit. And especially good if u dun want to paint ur kit. I just finished my OYW, and this time i manage to do the whole thing with just a little bit of paint (most of those are gundam markers for weathering, this is all thx to Flat topcoat. Will post my pic later tonight. |

QUOTE(young_soul @ May 4 2007, 08:21 PM) I've been using the Humbrol Matt Varnish all this time. Pretty good, but need to be sprayed on. When brushed, it'll be slightly gloss. U can still find those at Miniature Hobby over at Section 14.Mr Hobby from TM (BTS) also has got the Flat topcoat, although I prefer to use the Humbrol ones, as I tend to get the unwanted frosting effect at times. akatsuki will be kindda silly if you go all the trouble trying to paint those gold parts and also the result maybe wont be as nice as the original one |

QUOTE(lonetitans @ May 9 2007, 01:13 AM) Nip marks? I'm assuming cuts and scratches? If so, then it'll depends a lot on how serious it is. If its just something that can be sanded away, then probably yes, but keep in mind that I've not used those markers b4, so I got no idea how well the paint can flow off them. If its something more serious then puttying (or that magic Mr Surfacer solution) will be needed. Still possible I guess, but it'll be a larger area that needs to be covered up then. |

QUOTE(lonetitans @ May 9 2007, 01:13 AM) No. Sometimes it can highlight it more and some flashes are on a spot that shouldn't have a panel line there anyway. No markers shortcut if you want it perfectly flat with no marks. |

(part resin) i messed up on the boomerang unit.. it's too heavy and fell.. broken into pieces the plastic mold sucks.. need lotsa putty and sanding. + glues.. the rubber links are weak.. parts are loose.. also.. need primer before the white.. if u have LOT of time/skill.. u can mess with it.. else don't even think bout it. it's no where close to gunplas.. if u want reviews: google "cody scoop" .. he's got one nicely made.. |

but since it from bandai..it have more quality plastic but still very very less color parts..eternal only got 3 base color..and you have to do some major painting took me about a month just to finish it..color every parts of it and the hardest is to color freedom and justice..lol difficult to build it maybe not..but difficult to paint..that one is one damn hard..lol |

POISON!! http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/viewthread...&extra=page%3D1 but the outcome of the kit is very detail and nice.. well different people different interest..to me ex series are nice and details..and thats how it get its prices.. only thing tha tu need to spend alot of time with it QUOTE(fyire @ May 11 2007, 12:01 PM) hmm.. dont seem too bad actually, just takes time to do, so patience is pretty important. only troublesome bits will be the tiny MS figures there. minerva is pretty bad actually when u see the actual stuff..loleternal more easy to paint..actually lesser part to paint from minerva.. lol..i use magnifier to color those micro MS |

^ maybe it will come with the 100th MG
The pic only says that it is an 1/100, but that is probably the real 100th MG since the only 1/100 line running now is GS and GSD. Having said that, the Turn A looks really good. Proportion wise it's much more beautiful than the normal lineart, and the amount of panel lines is stunning like the OYW RX78. However, there are still no signs of what it can do... I assume it can move like the Zaku ver2.0 or even better. |

TURN A is the 100th MG
Well... not really a big shock though. Although dun really like the 'misai' but have to look at reviews on the kit, mayb it is still worth a purchase...something out of the norm |

The Turn A in the show is not the actual product that you'll see later
it's just a custom built by Hobby Japan |

QUOTE(Ah WanG @ May 17 2007, 10:29 PM) Now that is beautiful... yes the mouche design might not be everyone's cup of tea, and in fact the MG Turn A doesn't have the moustache (unlike the anime)... It has a proper gundam mouth and the horned moustache are located at the side of the head, kinda like Wing Gundam.Let's see what gimmicks this model can do. Just found out from other forums that the Turn A was a mod from HobbyLink Japan... the one on the right with the typical moustache mouth is by Dengeki Hobby. Looking at the concept pics behind, it seems that the MG TurnA will have a horned mouth after all. http://happy.ap.teacup.com/runchickens/491.html Char's Gelgoog... no signs of articulations too, and it seems less impressive than the Zaku ver2.0 due to the obscuring of the inner frame by the bulky armour. from mechatalk.com
QUOTE What we know so far (will be updated as information comes): * The model is planned to be released 08/2007. * The model will be based on the anime version (so it's not a Ka design or anything). * The model will come with removable chest missiles (because of this, the chest will also open...as expected). * The frame on the back of the legs will have some sort of linked join movement. * The core fighter will be detachable. * It will come with standing and seated Loran figures. * The chest will be able to convert from the white cross (Syd Mead's original design) to the regular blue version. * Comes with a rifle, shield, Gundam hammer, and two beam sabers. * Comes with a cow figure, as seen in episode 8. * There was a contest that ran in Japan, where people could guess what the 100th Master Grade would be. Bandai will select 100 random people of those who guessed correctly, and they will receive a gold-plated version of the Turn A Gundam. 8000 yen for a simple kit without any super gimmicks? Only a rifle, shield, hammer, and beam sabres? Where is the moonlight butterfly? Oh well... will give it a miss then. 8K yen... I could get two Char's Zakus with some spare change left !! Here's a bigger pic of the Turn A shown in the expo: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Too bad it's not the MG version, which is reportedly to have the same design as the anime version, ie pointy moustache without the mouth piece. QUOTE(whoami123 @ May 18 2007, 10:08 PM) OK... just checked and it seems that the price is not confirmed... I thought it was 8K yen because of previous rumours from other forums. My bad. QUOTE(wmconan @ May 18 2007, 05:24 PM) Preference is subjective. I agree that the Turn-A's design looks unorthodox, yet I feel that the design suits the atmosphere of the show. Turn-X looks even more badass than any other antagonist suit in AU.In fact, I prefer the design of Turn-A to Strike Noir and Strike Freedom... those two look unbalanced to me. Anyway... here's a HiZaku ![]() This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: May 18 2007, 10:58 PM |

How much is 8k yen anyway?
Turn A is the 100th MG is kinda...overhyped. People are so crazy of the 100th MG and it turns out to be Turn A, which is not really a popular Gundam. I don't think it's sale will be very good |

Alright guys and gals.... not exactly about gundam but I think this is the best thread to post and I need your advice on this.
Yesterday I bought a Bandai Master Grade Patlabor Ingram 3. When I got home i just thought of looking through the manual and the parts, I found out that one of the parts, J1 (9) which should be the clear green part to form the camera/eye of the Ingram is not included. I compared the parts list which is normally featured on the 2nd or 3rd page of the manual. There seem to be a part of the J1 frame totally missing, which contains the J1(9) part. All parts frames are still sealed in plastic so its not a case of someone removing the part from the frame. I checked the other frames as well but there is no sign of extension to their frames or extra parts. Anyone encountered this before? I checked with the shop's boss, he said he encountered this problem before and his supplier said it is suppose to be that way: the part is not included. Can anyone verify this? If no clear green part included, then why is it shown in the part listing and also shown in the assembly of the head in the manual as well? Please advise. Thanks in advance. Don't want my Ingram to turn out having an empty eye socket. |

Those SD SRW kits are expensive because they don't come out in mass production
so the kit itself need to sell expensive to cover the cost I saw the info in the Dengeki Hobby (Taiwan ver.) I need to go home & check which issue I've seen the website |

Strike Aile + Strike IWSP != Strike Noir
Strike Aile + Strike IWSP + Strike Noir == PG Strike Gundam Strike Aile + Strike IWSP + Strike Noir + Strike Rogue == PG GP01fb |

those things call runner..or tree..or whatever people wanna call it
i dunno about others..i keep them..cause i keep the box.. those boxart are too nice to throw them away..so if you keep the box..then why not just leave all those used runner inside their original box right.. |

Boxes.. i will cut the 4 corners and fold them up. So in the space of 3cm height, I can keep 3 boxes already. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- who know where to get decal paper? deja vu..cant help but to mention this word..
anyway..you only sand if you wanna paint..no paint then no sand.. use those craft knife to shave the cutting area..you dont pull those part out from the runner with bare hand..u use cutter for it..after cutter then craft knife.. can get this craft knife at art shop such as venus art at petaling street..cheap cheap. so people also use nail clipper..i dunno about this cause i never try use it before..craft knife all the way for me paint..i find that tamiya paint sucks..also make problem to my AB sometimes..lol markers you can use..but make sure gundam markers..but markers result wont be that nice..of cause la. like i said deja vu..there is not real tutorial on how to build your gunplas..you need to dig for it..research it..put some effort on it..uncle google is always there when you on your internet..the only thing i can suggest here is go to youtube.com..then search for 'gunpla'...all those video on those gundam masters will come out..and you can have a look on it..very helpful..again..deja vu..lol remember.most of the time..first few project wont turn out to be nice one..practice make you perfect and experience makes your gundam look real nice..and you need to spend alot also to make you gundams nice..lol paint, cutter, putty, cement, LED, plaplate, craft knife, thinner, brush, spray cans..lol i hope i didnt scared you away already.. looks like plastic always can be help easly by using topcoat flat vesion. one spray..then taadaaa!!! no more shining plastic.. stick around here..and you got many tips from the forummers here |
