Anonymous 1234 pointed out a few facts that may be what contestants have in mind all along but refused to speak up , so I will try my best to answer his ( or maybe your ) queries.
The matter about people helping in drafts. I for one truly believe that there is no other group of individuals in the world that know their team more than the team itself. Yes, people can help in their drafting but it is the team drafter's decision to make whether or not to accept it. The hero drafted will be played by that team and the team will bear full responsibility of the decision made in the draft. If the team leader is willing to risk his team's fate by taking an advice from a third party, it's his/her decision to make. In a way , I cant see any advantage in them "helping out" only disadvantages.
If passing around intel is what you are worried about, the same thing can be done before the match starts or through a simple phone call. Since we can't prevent that from happening, might as well let it be.
Of course , if participants feels that the draft is taking too long and the opponent is having an unfair advantage over them , they can always notify the marshal and the marshal will do his job accordingly.
About marshals alleged offering of opinion behind the players. I can fully assure you if there are any interactions between players and marshals , it will not be detrimental to both team's in-game interest. The marshals may not be very experienced but we sure all play the game and will try our best to protect the gamers' interest first and foremost.
We are not perfect , and if the gamers' really do think that the marshal is ruining their gaming experience , they can always pause the game and voice out their dissatisfaction of the situation and they will respond to it immediately by adjusting their behaviors there and then.
The last point you raised if applied fully will surely make another set of fans unhappy. Those are the fans that are dying to see their heroes in action live or they just want to step inside and feel the atmosphere of a tournament. From my experience, a packed CC of spectators surprisingly is quiet most of the time. The hardest thing to bear is the lack of circulation due to the crowd. In this particular tournament, the marshals do not even have the leg space to walk around the CC freely. That is when the marshals start chasing people out.
The answer is "No", I do not like it when there is like a fly buzzing at my ear when I am playing. In this case I will directly pause the game and complain to a marshal and demand for action being taken to correct the situation. So far, under my watch, NONE of the participants ever complained about noisiness being an issue, at least in front of a marshal.
About your comment that the people standing behind are the participants themselves it is of no surprise to anyone. For any gamer waiting for their game, their best way to burn time is to watch other people play while discussing strats with the teammates after each game in an Air-conditioned environment. We have gamers who start their first game at 3 pm after a wait from 10 am. If we shut them all outside, there will be a whole new set of complains in the forums. I remembered the PX tourney this year and I was there be4 any of the participants arrived. They actually make everyone who is not playing waited outside under the hot sun for their turn to play while shutting the door. When its their player turn to play , they are just plain exhausted and their gaming experience sure will drop.
We will try to find a balance in all this to try to make as many people as possible happy. But we accept criticism as part of the job and hopefully more will come in the future to make future events an even greater success.
Ok about Dop's case. The fact that the marshal told you there is a 120 min rule applied is a mistake from our part , we regret our mistake. He may have got confused with the ACG set of rules which have this applied and the set of rules posted at the first post. I am not sure what the warning has done to affect the outcome of the Dop vs Wiz game. This is a serious error that the marshal has done and we will get this sorted out internally soon. However, Dop still get the lost due to the fact that the Pugna bought a 3rd Eul/Guinsso towards the end of the game that warrants a loss given.
