I remember firing up "Secret of Monkey Island" on my old EGA-graphics color palette IBM clone PC in the 90s. Every other playthrough after that, was on ScummVM. Then "Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge".

Any "Monkey Island" game not written by Ron Gilbert does not interest me. Therefore no "Monkey Island" game existed after "LeChuck's Revenge" as far as I'm concerned.

Xbox is recovering after the second of two outages this weekend

For some European users, outage has been  3 days.

Meanwhile, not a peep here in Asia. Nor North America. Winnar?

I didnt even notice anything. All I did last weekend was having an ISF calibrator buddy over to do my C1 calibration. SD content from Youtube or other streaming services, HDR content from movies/tv shows and games, and everything in between. It's nice to have like-minded people over who speaks the same language. Me and Vincent Teoh of HDTVTest would click instantly in a snap of the finger. :lol2:

We did ran Dirt 5 and FH5 as calibration source, those loaded fine. No outage here in Asia. Or if XBOX DRM is tied to the account's region, no outage on my US XBOX region account.

Happy unexpected side-effect of the calibration process? ARC now works reliably now between my 7 years old AVR and my C1. ARC only ya, not eARC. Need eARC to get the meatier lossless audio formats off the consoles and PC. ARC still gets me DD5.1 and most importantly for gaming, Dolby Atmos.

Asked the calibrator what he thinks about the Sharc eARC device that's arriving very soon (tracking shows to be in Singapore, arrived this morning from Cincinati,OH), he's interested to hear how it works on my old AVR once it's integrated into the setup. According to him, there've been spotty companies like Arcana with "eARC audio extractor" device, that works intermittently, or work at lower bitrate depth, so he's crossing his fingers for my Sharc eARC. But he agreed on my call to not invest in any HDMI2.1 AVR now, not until AVR makers get their shit together. Not to mention get enough stock to cover niche interest like these locally. All in all, an insightful, learning experience last weekend seeing a professional at work.

Got tired of playing "toggle on-and-off- then PRAY" with the ARC port on my 7 years old AVR. With this, any/every port on your old AVR is an eARC port.

Beats spending MYR4K upwards for a new HDMI 2.1 VRR-compliant AVR available. With the STILL EVOLVING standards of HDMI2.1 and AVR makers still lagging behind in implementing the full suite of HDMI2.1 features on their new AVRs (VRR, ALLM, QFT, 4K120 with working HDR10 and Dolby Vision tone mapping, off the top of my head), some are still struggling with 4K120 without f**king up image quality, or HDR tone mapping, dont even expect VRR to be implemented on them until they clear their current docket.

All my HDMI2.1 devices (XSX, PS5 and PC with RTX3080Ti) goes first into the LG C1. At least those four HDMI2.1 ports have their features fully implemented on LG C1's four HDMI ports. To get all the lossless audio from those HDMI devices mentioned earlier, is a matter of getting eARC into the old AVR, and problems solved. The old AVR supports ARC, so I can still get lossy formats like DD5.1, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos, but the implementation of ARC on this 6 year old AVR is so flaky, that pumping two Atmos and a DD5.1 audio bitstreams in tandem from the XSX, PS5 and the PC together (what happened today while I was calibrating my C1 for better IQ), just messed up the logic circuit in the AVR, it no longer reliably does ARC, sometimes it works, sometimes it cuts off. Let see if the SHARC V2 8K can finally stop all nonsense.

Already on the plane 4 hours ago out of Boca Raton, FL to Cincinati, OH. More stopovers before it reaches this side of the world. Should be here in 3-4 days.

A no-brainer buy, since the game has permanently stayed on my XSX since the day 1. Perfect chill game........... until the blocks starts ramping up its drop speed.

Well, I completely skipped the Xbox One consoles, so there's a lot of games new to me on the Series X that I missed out on in the PS4 era.

I still can't get my hands on the PS5, so I can't say, but on first impressions I would definitely use that for 1st party Sony games... and multiplatforms I will just refer to Digital Foundry and see whichever is better.

One thing I love about the Xbox platform is the lack of regional restrictions for DLCs and digital games

I'm neither a PlayStation nor Xbox nor Nintendo fanboy - I just love 'em all from the 1990s until today. And that's why I have 14 consoles hooked up to my home theater right now.
