Hi all,

Are there any Toyota owners with the Vehicle Telematics System or anyone with an understanding on what does this VTS system do? I've asked multiple salesmen about this system but they don't have much idea on it either.

I was wondering would the VTS system allow for remote lock, unlock and start features or just vehicle location only which seems like a waste of money for RM250 a year...

Thanks for the info, checked it out and seems like its only GPS tracking... doesn't seem worth it to continue after the first 3 years of free subscription... was hoping it at least had remote start

Corolla, based on the price list that shows RM750 subscription fee for 3 years

This one by Captor also can send ambulance services after an accident.

At the end of the day regardless of the function, the name is just for marketing.

Like ESC, ESP, VSC etc. etc.

Bumped. 250 is cheap if you care for your vehicle whereabout. Plus, it wont void your warranty for it's installed by Toyota. External tracking gps (with wiring) will void your warranty. Of coirse there are other better systems out there to suit your needs. As mentiomed, it depends on your priority. Cheers

Guys, another question. The "trip search" does not display my recent trip route. Or it is not yet updated. Has anyone experienced this?

From my experience it takes a while for the trips to be updated as the app can be quite buggy at times.

Btw, would you know what does the arming feature do?

I migrated from Captor app to VTS. so far hasn't successfully display trip search. Will wait for a few days and will lodge a feedback if still not displaying anything.

Toyota sales person says "armed/disarmed" has no function. Will ask further and update here. I dont think it's there for no reason.

Do you happen to know about alert management, geozone? Do you need to create multiple alert management or one alert management with multiple zones? I created a few "add alert" for each zone eg: Home, Office, Mall.

App is not user friendly.

I looked into Netstar (Toyota VTS) privacy policy; and it seems pretty clear they keep your data forever, reveal it to insurance adjusters and sell to 3rd party data collectors.

Anyone else has privacy concerns?

So kira with this VTS system installed, car thieves can no longer steal Toyotas fitted with VTS, its like a deterrent betul ? Since the stolen vehicle can be tracked 24/7. Nak curi kereta Toyota pun no privacy, yes ?

My Toyota came with free VTS subscription for first year. To me, it is not really useful, basically just tracking the car location, driving speed and behavior.

The App is not really responsive (last using it was around Feb 2022, after my subscription expired, I uninstalled it), there are times where the location and ignition update got delayed (probably due to bad Satellite reception?) I don't recall there is remote lock and start function.

same as how our phone tracks us 24/7....
it's always a balance between privacy vs function

Services like captor give you the vehicle tracking and recovery service if your car is stolen.

Like when your car suddenly location change in the middle of the night. U get notifications. Then you phone captor to initiate recovery process, whereby they send their people to the vehicle’s location and siap call police standby to recover the vehicle
