Hi,

i'm trying to get myself a tab, unable to decide which to go for, and, can't find topic related to Galaxy Tab; thus, open this topic
appreciate Tab S4/S5e/S6 user can share your view,

after reading some comparison from internet, i would like to know anyone upgrade their tablet from S4/S5e to S6?
- what's experience?
- pros/cons?
- if given second chance, would you choose to upgrade?

else, existing user, why you don't opt for upgrade, how they serve you well?

thanks

I have the same Qs when considering tablets:
1. Q is the stylus important to you? - if not the S5e will suffice
2. Is there a reason for choosing an Android tablet? - I would go for an Apple tablet (entry-level) that will work better, last longer in terms of OS updates & quality of Apps for work & art

just got my tab s6 last month. no regrets so far

played with friend's s5e before getting this. on the outside & feel there is not much difference, both a smooth using. just that I wanted the pen where i can use for meetings and the best attraction is the new keyboard

the keyboard comes with a touch pad, so its easy for me to go mobile while being able to remote connect to my home pc without carrying an extra mouse, but the keyboard is very expensive tongue.gif

any why android over ipad? well I am a tech guy, so never liked apple where everything is closed up. I have an old note pro 12 where I have loaded it with android 8 and it's running even better than stock rom even after so long. you can't do that with an ipad biggrin.gif

TBH, Samsung tablets has improved tremendously over the years. Both Tab S5e and Tab S6 has similarity features and spec (eg. 10.5" display, 7,040mAh battery, AKG quad display). What really impressed me is that it is super slim and yet feels very solid.

If you use the tablet mainly for media consumption (eg. Youtube, watch videos, etc.) then Tab S5e is enough but if you blend media consumption and daily productivity (eg. emails, meetings, note taking) then Tab S6 will be a better choice.

do you feel that battery/pad get hot easily? do you remember what's effective storage available (with pre-installed default apps)?

on samsung tab, you can open multi apps at once,
or use DEX like desktop

according to samsung site
Tab S6 usable storage is 106.5GB out of 128GB, sd card max 1TB
Tab S5e 49.1GB out of 64GB, sd card max 512GB

Been using Tab S6 for 2 months now. What I found best for this tablet are:
• Quad speakers are loud! Really love this one. Maybe louder than my ipad pro 12.9 2nd gen
• slim body; love to hold it, even with flip case, still slim enough
• Tablet with SD855? Im sold!

The Spen is just a bonus for me. Seldom using it.

Currently using this and ipad pro 12.9" 2nd gen for tablet.
Previous tablet was Mi Pad 4 and previous samsung tablet was Tab S2.

Without a second thought, I went for it as pros mentioned above. Definitely a good buy.
Was planning to get the S5e last time but testing on the demo can see lag and stuttered here and there coz of the SoC, not interested anymore.

Cons? 10.5" actually not enough for me.

Since you're using both Tab S6 & ipad, which one is better to you? hmm.gif

Between Tab S6 and iPad Pro 12.9", I will choose iPad Pro 12.9".
If it's between Tab S6 and iPad other than Pro 12.9", I will choose Tab S6.

I like big screen more.

I see, since the iPad pro 12.9 cost twice as much means the tab S6 is really capable then.
Thank you! biggrin.gif

It is! That desktop-like Dex Mode really is something. I do wish iPad Pro can open more than 2 apps side by side.
Samsung play it safe by only make one size for its flagship tablet. Imagine Samsung offer 2 sizes, another one is 12-14". The price will be whopping more than 3.5K and people will make a fun out of it laugh.gif

But still im buying it, tablet more than 12" screen. Been waiting for archos play tab 21.5 that announced early this year but seems being scrapped the idea. Too bad, it really nice to own one.

i see, ipad pro can't open >2 apps side by side,
luckily s6 did well on that, but, side by side for 10.5 screen is kinda struggling

Please note that Tab S5e may have wifi signal issue (i.e. hands blocking the wifi antennae, depends on how you hold it). There's a few youtube videos about it as well as samsung's forum.

If you have a bit more budget, better go for Tab S6 as such wifi issue is not present and better SoC and SPen.
