Enterprise nowadays move very fast, although they have invested alot of money, but no user like to use it. SAP is going to obsolete.

You think IT is good, IT guys think other field is better. IT tech move very fast.

I think the problem with SAP is more because the industry is saturated.

The supply outweigh the demand.

Too many ppl join the bandwagon.

Since 15 years ago, fresh grad just keep talking about SAP. Not to say it's sunset, but people who is in demand now will be those old bird top of pinnacles, with 10+ years of solid project/entreprise experience.

If you go into SAP now, and manage to survive for 5-10 years, trust me, you will still be in demand by that time.

But gone with those days where a almost fresh SAP CONsultant is earning big bucks.

So the choice is yours. Commit to SAP newer tech (ie HANA) is still better than a path of generalised IT guy.

Man, I haven't been near an SAP system since 2014. The last project I implemented was 8 years ago and some of my ex-colleagues and friends are still within the field. They usually move about depending on their area of specialty as well as which company tends to set up some centre here in Malaysia.

So many people here talking out of their ass without having seen the data. SAP skills are one of the most in demand and low supply in Malaysia especially among MNCs. Given the investments already put in place, and really for a huge sized operations, it has no equal yet. The skills will still be relevant many years into your future. Neither is SAP standing still, they're actively investing in cloud solutions including buying up Ariba (a crappy purchase really) and building their SAP analytics cloud. Will it die someday? Absolutely but for now it will last your entire career. So if you want big bucks in IT, get into SAP, or (big) data, analytics and AI/ML.

Edit:yes I have access to industry published job research for Malaysian market.
