> RON95 EURO 4M on 1/1/2020, Do you think it will be implemented?

Do you think the govt will stick to their guns on the deadline, or will they succumb to the pressure by the oil companies (again)?

There has been no promotion on the move to EURO 4M by any of the petrol companies in Malaysia, unlike when RON97 was upgraded to EURO 4M standard. I hope I'm wrong, but I have the feeling that there will be another postponement announcement again. I hope petrolheads here share my concern on this.

Yes. We need Euro4M for RON95 as well. Been pumping RON97 just because it's cleaner.

When RON95 is expected to be more expensive after lifting of subsidy, I don't think we'll see Euro IV in 2020.

No subsidy on current Euro2 after 2020. Price will shoot up.
Definitely no Euro4 for Ron95. No picture & No sound. Definitely not implementing next year. If they are rolling out the Euro4 for Ron95, surely there will be fireworks.

They will say that rakyat do not need it, as current Euro2 are sufficient to run on their vehicle. 🤔
Further more it's cheaper to produce and more saving for the rakyat. 😟

Even thailand using euro5 already I think? Their eco car phase 2 pushing for fuel consumption 23.25km/l and euro 5 compliant engine.

Meanwhile Malaysia.... Gov want us to inhale more sulphur

Is running euro4/5 fuel with a decatted exhaust cleaner than running euro2 with catalytic converter not removed?

Confirm petrol station operators make a big deal out of it again and force government to delay implementation. Such a shame.

it's just a process
in long term, should be no difference at all

if it's way more expensive, thn why BHP still sell at same price

plus the facilities is already being built + our neighboring countries have all moved to euro 5 already(although some uses RON92)

Euro 3M isn't Euro 4M, so I'm not sure if you can compare the cost of producing 3M with that of 4M.

If Euro 4M is not more expensive, why won't the oil companies start offering at same price? When you remove more sulphur from gasoline, you need extra treating facility (Merox, Merichem or whatever). You need caustic solution (NaOH) or whatever the new technology requires. The spent caustic has to be regenerated and not all its strength can be recovered so you need to top up with fresh caustic solution all the time.
Then you have to recover the sulphur and dispose of the sulphur. These need additional CAPEX (new vessels, pumps, pipings) and OPEX (electricity to run the pumps, caustic solution procurement, etc)

Australia has postponed (2027). I think we may have to too.
