True ... easier to clean on aluminium and glass.  Plus if doing Chinese cooking, the oil and cooking smell might seep into the wood over time.

The only downside is the aluminium sliding mechanism doesn't look nice - very "office" like.

Function vs Aesthetics

This door that I am building is not separating the wet from dry and living room. That has a normal door.

This is leading to the maid room with bathroom facing the kitchen. Feng shui Master says no good hob facing the toilet. So cheapest solution is to use a sliding door to block it. 😬

I got my mechanism from Taobao, delivered to Malaysia.  Not cheap but satisfied with final design

Thanks for sharing. The maid toilet door is original orientation. My hob position was determined by previous owner and it is too much to move it around involving dismantling of cabinets and ducts.

Anyway we won't go to maid room much. There is no maid anyway. And that room is just plainly used as store room. As far as toilet our living has another "better" toilet/powder room 😬

That's another solution but I can't live with it's ugliness 🤣

Mine must be can't see through according to the Feng Shui "law". So less option with your type of solution and most are ugly 😬

Like you suggested earlier I can move the toilet door but that requires hacking. I am trying to avoid hacking and structural work where possible.
