QUOTE(bigred @ Nov 29 2019, 11:53 AM) True ... easier to clean on aluminium and glass. Plus if doing Chinese cooking, the oil and cooking smell might seep into the wood over time. The only downside is the aluminium sliding mechanism doesn't look nice - very "office" like. Function vs Aesthetics I removed it after 1 year and use tbe normal door now. Smell of cooking goes as far to the rooms on 1st floor.

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Nov 29 2019, 02:44 PM) This door that I am building is not separating the wet from dry and living room. That has a normal door. This is leading to the maid room with bathroom facing the kitchen. Feng shui Master says no good hob facing the toilet. So cheapest solution is to use a sliding door to block it. 😬 Is it possible to reposition the maid"s room toilet door? Personally I find sliding door more 'troublesome' than normal door after 1 year of experience. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Nov 29 2019, 02:52 PM

QUOTE(bigred @ Nov 29 2019, 03:03 PM) I got my mechanism from Taobao, delivered to Malaysia. Not cheap but satisfied with final design Post on my barn door https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=87097584Personally, I think the barn door is too big due to the design of your original door frame.

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Nov 29 2019, 03:07 PM) Thanks for sharing. The maid toilet door is original orientation. My hob position was determined by previous owner and it is too much to move it around involving dismantling of cabinets and ducts. Anyway we won't go to maid room much. There is no maid anyway. And that room is just plainly used as store room. As far as toilet our living has another "better" toilet/powder room 😬 Will using string curtains helps?

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Nov 29 2019, 03:14 PM) That's another solution but I can't live with it's ugliness 🤣
Wanted to erect a brick or wooden wall, but settled for this. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Nov 29 2019, 03:19 PM

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Nov 29 2019, 03:26 PM) Mine must be can't see through according to the Feng Shui "law". So less option with your type of solution and most are ugly 😬 Like you suggested earlier I can move the toilet door but that requires hacking. I am trying to avoid hacking and structural work where possible. How about using those nice folding type door? Personally i dont mind without the string curtain but my wife says not nice with such open concept. Putting a permanent divider makes the hall looks smaller.
