Recently my wife and I got invited to a 4D3N stay at their Phuket Vacation Club, and of course, we sat through their 3hour presentation.

The concept is that we join their vacation club, every year the company will top up credit to our membership and we are able to book hotels/ resorts under Mariott umbrella at a lower price until year 2056 (iirc)

We declined the full package as both my wife and I aren't ready at the moment financially but at the end we signed up to an "Encore package" where Mariott will retain the package offered to us for 2 years to reconsider, while crediting mariott bonvoy points and invite us for another stay at their Phuket villa.

I am creating this topic is to connect with existing members/ ex members to gain an insight on your experience with Mariott's vacation club.

Essentially, it's just like any other TimeShare, but this is branded under Mariott.

If you do go on vacation (or staycation) often, then it would be worth it to you, but more often than not, timeshare comes with quite a number of hidden fees (dues, membership, etc) and conditions.

I suggest read the fine print (twice )

Invitation from Hell! Avoid at all costs. While I've never signed up for one, I have attended the free seminars where they really pressure you to sign-up. I've got close friends who've signed up, and always complain they can never get the property they want at the time they want, so always end up going somewhere like Fiji (4 times to stay at the same place!).

Yes, it's another timeshare, and if you've been to Hawaii, you can also see them in shopping centres and street corners in Waikiki area offering you limo rides to their "function centre" for free drinks and food...! Or free tuk-tuk rides in Phuket and Pattaya for the same sort of thing.

Buyer beware.
