Dear guys, i just got this rear strap-on bike rack and this is the 1st time im using it. So, not really sure if i am installing it correctly. Ive researched on youtube and get the general idea on installing them, but since the one that i got (for free actually) did not have any brand name or model marked on it, i dont know where to start on finding the correct installation guide for that particular product. really need your help especially for those who owns/have used one of this/or have it installed on the same car (this is an old odyssey rb1 year 2004) to see if what im doing is right. I'm actually abit concerned about the part where the rack touches the rear glass, can the glass handle the pressure of the bike?

I tried loading the bike but cant really tell if there are pressure on the glass, or whether it it strong enough to be strap on like that. cant strap on the lower side of the bonet/boot since its too thick for the hook to hold (its a plastic bumper and might be flimsy and not strong enough to hold the hook too)..afraid of 2 things here: 1)if the glass cant handle the pressure, 2)if the rack itself can be held tight and in to place just like that.. all just diy install.. please advise.

I know right? just trying tho.. but general idea is that i need to rest the lower part of the rack to something that can hold it/handle the down force that pushes it. odyssey rb1 got that type of bumper kinda abit high than previous model.. that's y im abit sceptic if it can hold it.

roof rack also an option but since i got this one for free, i wanted to try it first see if it fits.. if not probably will sell it and buy roof rack jugak

yup..i dont prefer roof rack also..afraid sometime if i forgot its there, i would hit tree branches/garage roof or if not stable the bike could fall off.. i dont choose it, got it for free tho (i actually bid online and won for $1.50 , seller decide to give it for free instead)..and i dont really have any experience with bike rack before, so just go on with what on offer online..

Plus, i think this rb1 odyssey also got weird kind of bumper (abit angled down instead of 90degree-ish, and in the middle of the bonet) so quite difficult to hold the lower rack nicely. worst come to worst i just shove the bike in the car instead, but have to remove the tyre pulak..

Yup. Thats another option, but i dont have tow bar installed.. Could cost more to get the one made for this car.

Im guessing in the end, thats what i have to do. going to pick up a bike today, hopefully it will fit inside.. And probably will sell that rack for a profit instead..

Yup you are right.. In the end, i shove the bike at the back, but of course have to dismantle the front wheel tho.. And its a 29inch too.. I thought i dont have enough space because i always brought my kids at the 2nd row seats . Have to push their seats all the way to the front.. Good thing theyre still small..

Unfortunately, my odyssey is the old model and isnt as tall as the latest model..so cannot place the bike standing upright. Need to place it lie down..
