I've been months on contact lenses, monthly, alcon air optix hydraglide, however for around 7-14 days the contact lenses starting to degrade and I have to change to a new pair defeating the purpose of monthly contact lenses.

Degradation as in the vision quality. So is it me or the contact lenses? Any recommendations? Advises?

A monthly contact lens means it is meant to be worn every day for less than 8 hours for 30 days in a row. (So a combination of your guesses haha)

If you had to choose between your two answers, it would be better to go by the 'time frame of a month' as opposed to 'using it 30 or more times', because a contact lens sitting in solution for days between uses will wear out sooner; it is always better to be safe and err on the side of wearing a lens for less time than more, because the more you use a lens the more bacteria will accumulate on it and it will wear out to become less comfortable and less safe for your eye.

Try to err on the side of caution, and use a straight 30 day time frame for monthly lenses as opposed to 30 uses if you do not wear them daily.

However, also check in with your own comfort levels and see how your eye feels. If your eye is hurting before a monthly time frame even if you have only worn the lenses 26 times in a row, I would throw them out and start wearing a new pair. On the flip side, if it has been 1 month and 2 weeks, and you have only worn the lenses 20 times, and your eyes feel great in them, you could also keep wearing them if you needed to.

Two tips to figuring out how long you should wear a lens:

1. Do what is comfortable because often your eyes will tell you if something is wrong.

2. Err on the side of caution and wear lenses for as little time as possible for the highest level of eye health.
