I am 30, my instructor is just 20, with kids better than me down the corridors waiting for their turn.

My wife never had the opportunity to learn to play the piano as a child, and she always felt left out, whenever I jam with some of my friends. She tried to get me to teach her, it because I can’t read notes (I can only play by ear), I’m as useless to her as a fish out of water.
So, she decided to take lessons instead. And her teacher is someone that comes to our house and is young enough to be our daughter. No shame in that. Now, she’s pointing out the unconventional chord progressions that I utilize and telling me how it should be done “properly”. Pfft. Never too late or old to learn! |

Just do what you'd like to do and don't listen what everyone else thinks

If you're there to learn then don't worry about it! If you can afford it though can consider a private teacher

If you're concerned about what others might think of you, then hiring a private home teacher would be the best bet.

Of course there's nothing wrong with that. It's even nice that you want to learn to play the piano. Now the biggest challenge is not playing the piano itself, but overcoming the awkwardness. The fact is, it's all in your head. I bet most people will envy your courage on the contrary. Don't be afraid to realize your dream, there's nothing wrong with that.
