Can fix tyre size 225/55r17 or stick with 215/50/r17? stock rim size is 17 and also no intention or interest to upgrade rim.

if you put 3225/55/17, the car will be higher, tire size bigger and fuel economy suffers, meter reading will also be inaccurate

The height increase is very slight. Fuel economy is also negligible.
You can get slightly better comfort from the thicker tyre.

QUOTE(gikko @ Nov 24 2019, 12:34 PM) how about 225/50r17 size? Yes 225/50/17 can, but not 225/55/17 cuz that is already too tall/big outer diameter.

Slightly and negligible so why do it? Might as well keep them the same size. It’s the size tested with the car and recommended by the manufacturer.

QUOTE(littlegamer @ Dec 3 2019, 10:18 PM) Actually yes, there is no reason to do it. But ppl do it for looks. That's the only real reason. That’s respectable too. I personally have gone with slightly wider tyre than manufacturer’s long time ago thinking it will have more grip and better handling. It turns out to be out of tune slightly such as slight weight penalty you can feel during acceleration. At the end of the day I feel you can achieve the performance or quietness Within the manufacturer specs by choosing a good quality brand and fit for purpose tyres. Technically you are taking a risk using a different tyre specs from the placard: out of diameter and speedometer is the main thing. Change of comfort, performance and weight is secondary. For look wise it probably doesn’t make much difference a couple cm. If you really want to change the width and wall height please google the tyre size change formula. It will give you the plus or minus percentage change of the diameter and speedo. Your local tyre shop will also advise as they will do whatever you want for sales but an honest one will advise just keep within the placard specs.

1st of all why want to fit bigger tires? If want to be comfort, just upgrade to better brand or type tires like Michelin, bridgestone touring tires with the same size. Changing to bigger tires will impact the speedometer, fuel consumption and worse the stability control may not function as well during emergency.

For those who worry about speedometer, most car speedo is 5km/h less than actual GPS speed, change to slightly bigger tyre just right to compensate it.
Anyway i don't know what's the purpose of TS to upsize the tyre, for me i do it because i want extra comfort, and the speedo compensation is just a 'bonus' of it.

What i mean is go for 215/55/17, not 225/55/17 This post has been edited by coolkwc: Dec 15 2019, 10:20 PM
